Anyone Using TAP PAP Nose Pillows & Mouthpiece

I see CPAP.com is running a good sale on the TAP PAP Nose Pillow and Mouthpiece.

Great reviews on that site but who knows if they post negative reviews.

I have tried 7-8 different FFM's and still getting Large Leaks although I never hear them at start, during sleep or waking up.

Getting to be very frustrating.

My pressures are high in 20+ range.

Any user comments, particularly high pressure users, are welcomed.

I like the TAP PAP and have been using it for a couple years. I can't speak to high pressure, but the design is good for adjusting the fit just right, so I don't get leaks (unless I open my mouth). For me the TAP PAP works well. My pressure needs have gone down.

If you do a forum search for "TapPap" (all one word because the search function doesn't like 3 letter words) you will find a lot of discussion but this is probably the largest thread/review that was done when the Tap Pap was first released and a lot of us tried it.

I used it for about a year until the AirFit P10 came out and got my attention.
While my pressures aren't as sustained high as yours I do see over 20 cm quite often for short durations.
It's very stable at higher pressures.

cpap.com does offer the free return insurance on this mask but it doesn't help much when someone lives in Canada unfortunately due to time frame for customs both coming and going so I don't know how much of a benefit that feature is for you.

I also have successfully used the Tap Pap. I really like that it has NO head gear! It might take you some trial and effort to get the bit piece fitting correctly but once you do - it works well. I found that slightly softening it each night by holding it in hot water for a minute or so made the fitting most precise. I now also use the P10 pillows and the Dreamwear. Guess I rotate them as they each fit a different nitch. I'd say it would definitely be worth trying - but get the return insurance. Also, I find using a soft cervical collar essential for my having low

Cleaning the mouth tray was mentioned.
I used a toothbrush with a wee dab of my favorite toothpaste.
That way the flavor was pleasant and familiar.

Giving it a try due to the "no headgear" thing. However, I was surprised to see that there was no headgear included at all. Even though the instructions referred to it. Wasn't planning on using it anyways, but you never know. I guess that I can buy it on the cpap.com site. If I was a more careful reader I probably would have noticed that the headgear is no longer included.

Oh well, if it works for me, that'd be great. Got it fitted and ready to go for tonight. I have kind of funky teeth, so it took a couple of tries to get it fitted so that it was tight enough.

So it goes...

Well, one night down *smile*. Got over 5 hours sleep with the Tap Pap, good for me for the first night with a new mask. Leaks were 0 and AHI was low, that's good, too. My teeth were a little sore immediately after removing it, but that went away quickly. Weird sleeping with something in my mouth, though, that'll take some getting used to. I think that I'm just using it temporarily, we'll see. Depends on how fast the sore on my nose heals *smile*.

Anyways, it was tolerable, we'll see in the fullness of time how things go. Promising start, though.
