Sleepyhead data - i'm still feeling tired

Post by keio » Mon May 02, 2016 2:06 am

Hey all,

My AHI seems to be in the good range but i'm still feeling tired all day long.
At first i was suspecting it was a leaks thing, but is not seems to be the case

Can i get some help please from the pros in here ?(the pressure seems to bee kinda wavey is it normal?)

It doesn't appear that leaks are your problem. Those are pretty low pressure settings, though. I suspect you need to raise both the minimum and maximum pressure. Your AHI is pretty good but I would think you are struggling to breathe all night with those low settings. You may not notice that you are struggling. Maybe start with minimum 8 and maximum 12 and see how you feel after a week or so.

The saw tooth pattern you see is normal.
The little pointy spikes are test pressure probes which I explained in more detail in this thread.

Your report above isn't horribly remarkable but maybe could stand a wee bit reduction in snores and flow limitations in light of the fact that you still don't feel so great. I have my doubts as to whether those few FLs and snores are the problem but it wouldn't hurt to try to clean things up a bit more.
Just a little more minimum starting pressure should clean things up a bit. Probably 0.5 cm more or maybe 1.0 could be used easily since the minimum is only at 6 cm at this point so you have lots of room.

Other than the minor FLs and snores the report isn't all that exciting but I do see that you used the machine only about 6 1/2 hours....were you sound asleep for the bulk of this time? Even if you were sound asleep the entire time 6 1/2 hours isn't likely enough hours of sleep for optimal restorative sleep. Is this normally the number of hours you get or was this just a short night fluke?
My butt is dragging all day if I only get less than 7 to 7 1/2 hours of sleep even with a perfectly clean report.

Also, were those hours of sleep broken with lots of wake ups?
Do you take any meds and if so, what? Often meds have side effects that can affect our sleep quality along with how we feel during the day.

Finally, if you aren't sleeping soundly and find yourself waking often for no apparent reason it might be that the auto adjusting pressure function is having a disruptive impact to your sleep. Meaning those little variations or changes or the test pressure probe functions are disturbing sleep. When that happens people sometimes sleep more soundly and feel better at a fixed pressure or a vary tight apap range so that the roaming of the pressures is restricted.

First thing that stands out to me though was the 6 1/2 hours of sleep. If this is common for you then you may simply not be getting enough hours of sleep.
