Titration Study in Dubai

Post by sambc » Fri Apr 22, 2016 1:08 pm

Hi All,
Does anyone know a good place to have the titrationstudy done? I googled and found a few places but I was wondering if anyone here had personally done one recently and can recommend a clinic.

Cheers,

Sam

You generally are referred for a "sleep" study, which is either a one night session where they feel they've gotten all the info they need to

a) diagnose you with sleep apnea (or some other related sleep problem) and recommend therapy for your doctor to write a script by, or

b) a two night study (determined by what happens at the first), the second night being called the 'titration' one, the one where they gauge the amount of pressure your machine needs to be set at. So you first want to think about being diagnosed with apnea (first night), and only afterward have a possible second session for titration... but your doctor (at least here in N.A.) would usually make a referral for you at a sleep clinic.

Thanks Julie. I have been diagnosed back in 2011. The reason for this one is for me to see if the pressure needs to be adjusted considering its been 5 years since the original study.

Cheers,

Sam

Sam, depending on your machine, you can download (free) Sleepyhead software and find out for yourself. It shows many features of what happens overnight along with things that would signal a pressure increase as being needed. If you are interested (most members use SH) we can tell you how to DL it and then post reports so we can advise, but it's important to know which machine you have - the full name(s) and model (or 'ref. #'), as well as type of mask you use and pressure settings - not every machine is compatible with SH.

My last titration study was something like 15 years ago. With a modern machine and SleepyHead software, I can easily evaluate machine settings and change them to whatever is needed. I will not spend time and money on a lab titration when I can do a better one myself in the comfort of my own bed.

If you fill out your equipment profile, https://www.cpaptalk.com/ucp.php?i=prof ... pment_info , someone can tell you whether your machine is compatible with SleepyHead software.

BTW, My pressure needs have crept up over the years. Obstructive sleep apnea is a progressive condition.

Don't know how much information may be within the posts in this search link, but you might read through them.

Other than that, I would also suggest getting a different machine if your present one is not data-capable or getting software to read your data if your machine IS data-capable.

Either option would probably be much less expensive than having additional sleep studies and all that goes with that. If your machine is that old and well-used, you may be needing to get a more current one anyway.

Thanks a lot Julie, Chevie for your responses.
My Macbine is ResMed AirSense 10 Autoset with AirFit P10 mask.

I have to admit that I am a bit behind on the use of Software to adjust pressures. Is there a link that you recommend to me?

Thanks again,

Sam

Thanks Den, my machine is data capable (ResMed AirSense 10 AutoSet).
It's dawning on me now that I have a quite a few things to learn about reviewing my sleep results and adjust pressures!
Any help with that would be much appreciated.

Best,

Sam

After you start looking at your data and talking to forum members, it will soon start to look fairly easy. But, it can seem overwhelming at first.

For one thing, it's not just about pressures, not by a long shot.

Hi Sam.

Yes, that one is definitely data-capable.
Here's a link to download the clinical manual in case you don't already have a copy.

Once you start to look at your data, it'll make more sense. There are lots of reports posted in other folks' threads you can see by poking around in some of them.
