Life Care Solutions-American HOme Patient.

Post by Stormynights » Thu Apr 21, 2016 10:34 am

I had American Home Patient for my cpap supplies and I wasn't happy with them at all so I switched to my Oxygen company Life Care Solutions. LCS didn't supply good nasal cannulas so I Just bought my own. AHP started trying to contact me to order supplies but I didn't answer their calls because I had already told them I wouldn't use them again. I didn't know that LCS had been bought out by AHP. I was running out of O2 supplies so I called LCS to try once again to order I still wasn't told that they were Now AHP. I kept waiting for my order that never came and made many phone calls and spent hours on hold on the phone. Finally I reached a person that knew what was going on and she told me that AHP bought out LCS and my equipment had been reposted stolen because they couldn't get hold of me. At that point I had just seen my doctor two days earlier. Now I have to go back to my doctor for another breathing test. I am not going to be able to visit my doctor for another couple of weeks. I called my insurance company and there is nothing else that can be done.

Hi Stormynights,
Why do you need another breathing test?

I don't think I should need a new test but the only way the insurance will pay is if I have the new test. Nothing has changed except the DME.

Seems like you should not need a new test. Who is your insurance company and do you have a copy of their written protocol regarding when repeat sleep tests are required?

I have Blue Cross and BS Medicare advantage. I called them and they said I had to be tested again.

Seems like the DME is the one who initiated the buy out and all they need to do is transfer your records.
I don't believe Medicare requires the second test, not sure about advantage plans.
Who did you talk to? DME, Advantage Plan?
I would ask for their written protocol.

Contact your local SHIP or HICAP office (depending on the state). They are listed on the back of your Medicare and You booklet or you can find them by going to http://www.medicare.gov and selecting your state where it says "Find Someone to Talk to". They should be able to help you.

Clearly you cannot go without oxygen because of administrative glitches. The SHIP should be able to help you get this straightened out at no cost to you. It's a federally funded program of Medicare advocacy.

If that doesn't work for you, PM me, there's another resource I might have for you.

I think I will be ok until I can get to the doctor. I really don't expect them to arrest me or take my equipment away. I am just aggravated with the stupidity of their rules.

Yeah, that new sleep study routine is a pain. Been off the insurance grid for awhile now.

But today I tried to price a resmed swift lt nasal pillow mask and it took some time. Finally had to get the code a7034 from AHP, then went back to carecentrix for the price of $80.79 after care centrix called cigna for awhile.

What are the odds that $80.79 will be the actual price, who knows. Quite a hassle just to get a price.

Arrrrggghhhhhh.......they charged me $80.79 plus $37.69 for a grand total of $118.48. Couldn't even get a straight answer from those >?<*&%$@!.
