Rules for posting a machine for sale?

Are there rules here against posting a unit for sale?

Go ahead and post, but, be aware that most people on the board are very familiar with the value of used machines and they will not hesitate to tell you if your price is out of line.

Generally, no. But, many people selling their machines get questioned about why they're selling, whether they're still under insurance and DME compliance criteria, hours of use, asking prices, and a whole bunch of things that the seller needs to be prepared for.
And, to agree with what LSAT said, we are extremely knowledgeable about this equipment......newer or older.

Some people may actually try to encourage you to "get back on the horse" if you have stopped therapy.
Everyone has some trouble doing this--some more than others--a lot more.
No matter how difficult, this is worth the struggle.

I guess they are saying there is only one rule: Maintain a thick skin.

I bought a machine from a lady who no longer used hers. I bought it as a spare because i travel alot and my machine is getting pretty ragged from being packed up, carried, and used on the road. So, I found a lady selling a Resmed Aircurve 10 ASV and I bought it. It was told it is about a year old and has not been out of its carrying bag since September. It works just fine but when i took it to my doctor to have it set for me he told me I should sell it because apparently it is way way more machine than i need. I just need a basic CPAP and i guest this one is very much overkill for me. It has 795 hours on it and is in excellent condition. I have no idea what it is worth though. Any ideas? and is it a model that would be desirable for someone else. Any input is appreciated.

Someone may know if this machine can be set up for you.

http://www.secondwindcpap.com is a good place to check the value of a used machine. They buy and sell pre owned machines. You could see what price they have it listed at. And they offer a warranty, so whatever price they have it listed at, you would get less than that on here without a warranty.

But, like previous poster stated, I'd find out if it can be set up to run in cpap mode. If you look at https://www.cpap.com , find that machine, and click on specs, it will tell you if the machine can be set to cpap mode. (I looked, and I think it can, if I had the right machine, it says setting option of cpap 4-20.)

Basic CPAPs suk. Of course, it depends on what you mean by "basic".

+1

Given what we have been told, I would be inclined to keep the machine if it can be set like a CPAP or APAP.

rs12474, It does appear that machine can be set to mimic a CPAP/APAP. The ResMed feature checklist shows it can be run in CPAP mode ----> http://www.resmed.com/us/en/consumer/pr ... 0-asv.html

But, you should have someone that uses an ASV confirm this and guide you. An easy way to find someone is to go back to your original post, click on EDIT, and change the subject to read "Setting ASV to CPAP?" This should get the attention of someone who knows.

I have a Resmed Airsense 10 Autoset. I can go into the clinical menu and change the setting from APAP to CPAP. I bet you can do the same thing with the original poster's machine.

I agree with "Cardsfan". Check out what they're worth as compared to what you paid for it. Virtually ANY machine.....even Bi-Level, and those in the ASV categories can be configured to run in straight pressure (CPAP) mode. So, you should still be able to use yours in straight pressure. Yeah, it's probably "overkill", but depending on what you paid for it, it still may be a good deal and last for a long, long time.

Don't blame your doctor for not knowing how to set your machine.
It's not in his job description.

Bump... for those that need specialized therapy, it's ASV, folks. Buyers: get pictures of it emailed to you, especially of the LCD screen showing the machine hours (not changeable... I think that's what ResMed calls them). It's probably not too high a number since the machine was recently produced. Pictures of the stickers on the back or bottom are a requirement to prove it's the correct model. Also, use PayPal or some-such that has buyer protection.

I like my ResMed AirFit F10 FFM - reasonably low leaks for my ASV therapy. I'm currently using a PR S1 AutoSV 960P Advanced. I also keep a ResMed S9 Adapt as backup. I use a heated Hibernite hose. Still rockin' with Win 7 by using GWX to stop Win 10.
