Amara View Full Face Mask Large

Post by burgerboy7141 » Mon Apr 04, 2016 10:07 am

I was using the Airfit P10 Large Nasal Pillows. I recently had Bariatric Gastric Bypass Surgery (Feb 2016) and noticed that I was not sleeping well. When I visited the Sleep doc, I was told ( based on the data on my card) that I was experiencing serious leakage at night. The fact that my mouth was so dry when I woke up made sense. They said some Bariatric Gastric Bypass patients start to keep their mouths open at Night resulting in the Nasal pillows being ineffective. I have lost about 25 pounds and they reduced the APAP pressure range down to 8-14 and they first have put me on a Resmed Full Face mask that broke the skin on the bridge of my nose. Then they put me on the Amara Full Face Mask (Large). I am having a hard time with this mask because when I move sideways at night I can feel the mask leaking air into my face. I am constantly waking up trying to adjust the mask at night. Overall result is that my sleep quality has become very poor and I am stressed about other options available for a full mask.

I am looking for any advice from this Forum. Any better way to manage the Amara Full Face Mask to prevent the air from leaking into my face? Are there any other Full Face masks that will not break the skin surface on the bridge of my nose?

Thank you in advance.

I am in the process of trying out an Amara View minimum contact full face mask. It took me about a week to get it adjusted properly but it has a very low leak rate in all of my sleeping positions (mostly on my sides) and is very comfortable. There is no forehead piece and nothing on the bridge of your nose. The straps are not tight.

I am going to keep it - need to call the DME so they can bill medicare.
