Size Matters

Post by manttila » Sat Apr 02, 2016 3:47 am

I travel and looking for the smallest practical option that would be covered by insurance.

I have a RESMED Escape S9 and may be getting a RESMED AIRSENSE 10. Having a hard time getting dimensions. HOw much smaller is the Airsense?

Cpap.com has a ton of info on very many masks, size included.

Here is the specifications page for the AirSense 10 machine at CPAP.COM. It appears that all the AirSense 10 machines are the same size (at least the ones I looked at.) The dimensions are listed for the machine with and without the humidifier chamber so it will be easy to compare against your current machine.

Personally, I never found the size of the machine was much of a factor in travel. The S9 is small and lightweight and so is the AirSense 10.

It's better to look at the size of the travel bags and they are approximately the same size:

AirSense 10 bag = 13.24 in L x 10 in W x 5 in H
S9 bag = 13.5 in x 12 in x 5.5 in

I have both of those bags. The S9 is definitely bigger than the Airsense 10 bag. (2 inches) Overall the S9 looks bulkier because it has an extra outside compartment.
S9 is 12.5 X 12 X 5.5
Airsense 10 is 13.2 X 10 X 5.

Also, the Airsense 10 has Two different travel bags. There is a smaller one I got when I received my machine from the DME. It has a 3 compartments. One for the machine, one for the humidifier and one compartment with a velcro closing for everything else.
The bigger airsense 10 bag has all the above plus a 2 inch wide zippered compartment that runs from side to side. You might try to find the smaller one of these two. It measures
13 X 9 X 5 (approx, I did the best I could with a tape measure) But it is definitely the smallest of the 3.
If you PM me with your email, I can take a pic of it and sent it to you.
I don't know how to post it on here.

I have the older style case for my Airsense 10 Autoset for Her,
so I stuff my P10 mask inside the dock for the water tank while packing.
(The tank is separated, and goes in its own compartment.)
I really CAN have the best of both worlds--compactness and awesome function.
It is possible to go smaller (Transcend, z1), but the trade-offs are a bit rough and noisy.

Most insurance will only pay for ONE machine; make sure it is one you can live with every night.
