Have you tried a room humidifier to make the air more moist then your cpap machine won't need to work so hard.Nathansnyder430 wrote: ↑Sat Nov 30, 2019 8:06 pmI have noticed in the past two weeks I run out of water in my CPAP tank. This happens usually after only 7.3 to 8.4 hours of sleep.
I then get woken up by a metallic smell, it smells like burning metal .
I have read some comments, and I am going to try turning the humidity down, and the heated hose temp down as well.
Are there any other suggestions that I can use?
I've used this CPAP machine since December of 2017.

You wrote this several years ago. I have the same machine that you do. I run out of water too. I live in Colorado, 8,000 ft. The humidity in my house is 50%. I have tried everything too. I've been keeping a small bottle of water next to the bed, pouring it in every time I wake up. If I sleep more than 4 hours it runs out. I may try getting a second water container, have it full of water and just make the switch. That might be easier.babypenguini wrote: ↑Thu Mar 31, 2016 10:07 pmI switched to the Dreamstation machine a few months ago. I totally love it, and the bluetooth upload feature to an app on my phone lets me track my nights.
My pressure setting is 13cm. I have a traditional 6 foot hose, and usually set the humidifier low; to 1 or 2. I love to sleep in a cold room, so the warm air in the tube is cold by the time it reaches my mask. This leads to a lot of condensation, which causes leaks and a lot of condensation. So much so that my nose is peeling from the moisture. So I got a heated tube, which does in fact make the air warm and reduces the rainout. The big problem now is that the water tank runs out during the night. Smelling an empty heating element is not cool.
Anyone else run out of water during the night? I fill it just above the max line, and in less than 8 hours the smell wakes me up. Now that I actually sleep, I can sleep 12 hours on my day off, and don't want to have to refill the water tank in the middle of the night.
Any advice you have would be most appreciated!
