My perception of how I slept was that I slept pretty well. A few wakeups per night. No big deal.
My sleep study showed 79+ events per HOUR. Loss of oxygen as I struggled to breath. So, while I thought I slept okay, I was actually struggling to breath all night.
Now, with cpap, I feel the difference between my previous sleep and my treated sleep. I fall asleep much faster. I don't move around much. I sleep much deeper. I wake up fewer times, if at all. I feel more cheerful. It was a huge improvement.
Anybody on CPAP NOT have sleep problems?

Who would have thought it would be this challenging to sleep and breathe at the same time?

Re: Anybody on CPAP NOT have sleep problems?
I was snoring so loud I think the neighbors heard me. Very tired all the time and falling asleep all over the place. Talking on the phone I fell asleep, when we had guests I was snoring in the chair etc. I went to the specialist after a 3 month wait to get in and he had something that just hooked up to my finger. He said I didn't have sleep apnea I was just a social snorer which mean I just bothered people around me by snoring. Well it kept getting worse but to get specialist appointments here in Sweden we have to go through a family doctor and they all looked and said you saw him and he said there was nothing wrong. Finally 2 years later I saw a doctor who listened to what I was saying and put in a referral. Another 3 months and this time he had machines that worked. We picked it up in the afternoon and returned it by 8:30 the next morning. When I tried to tell him how bad I was he ignored me. But he went out to get some papers for me and in less that 2 minutes he returned and I had fallen forward my forehead hit his desk and I was snoring. lol This now happens again after being off the machine for 2 years. I wake up with my head on the sink when I am in the bathroom! Lucky the bath is tiny so the sink is near. I am waiting for the 1st appointment next month and then probably 2 months before a doctor reads the results and I get a machine. I stopped breathing 58 times an hour.
Once sitting in my recliner my hubby came in and said I am frying eggs for lunch do you want some. I said yes. 3 minutes later he said he called me, then came in my room and said my name and then in front of me and finally realizing I wasn't breathing shook me. I gasped and woke up. I think I would have died. Even on the machine I am tired all the time and keep falling asleep. The clinic told me to move the machine to a table near my chair and to wear it all the time. I just can't imagine that! Good luck.

Re: Anybody on CPAP NOT have sleep problems?
I've been a hosehead for 10 years and I had some trouble finding a mask that worked well for me.
Settled on the Resmed Quattro FX and I love my machine.
There would be one hell of a fight if someone tried to take it away.
Once you get used to it you may wonder how you ever got along without it --- not well that's for sure.
I sleep through the night.
Sleepyhead usually reports like 7 hours 28 minutes or so.
I never wake up until the alarm goes off or sometimes when one of the cats decides to get on my chest and tell me he's hungry about 5:45 or so.
I LOVE MY MACHINE.
It's mostly a mental adjustment.
