Cant find a chin strap that works with a shaved head

Post by HighSierraGuy » Mon Mar 28, 2016 6:59 pm

After 6 masks I've finally found one that works for me, the ResMed Swift FX. My face is narrow and with my beard the masks style did not work for me. So now the issue is that my mouth opens when I sleep. I've purchased the Halo Chin strap and the white bandage style chin strap. The main issue is that I have a shaved head and these straps leave dents in my head that last anywhere from all day to sometimes two days. I've tried loosening them as much as possible but it has to be somewhat tight to keep my mouth from opening. The dents in my head are definitely noticeable and to the point where I can't wear either of these. Are there any chin straps that work with bald/shaved heads or am I SOL? I've already spent $40 on these masks that I can't use so I figured this would be a good place to get some feedback.

Thanks!

I use a 3 1/2 inch soft cervical collar to keep my mouth closed. It doesn't stop air from blowing out through my lips when I fall asleep, so i use a full face mask. I keeps my mouth closed so I don't breath through my mouth and dry it out.

My wife made up one of these for me, it worked great. I tossed it out eventually because I could not keep myself from mouth-breathing, strap or no strap. Might be a good item for you to try. Good luck. ~~~ https://youtu.be/KCchQiwWt0U
