Question about Resmed Airfit F10 headgear
Question about Resmed Airfit F10 headgear
I've been on APAP for 3 months now. For the first month I used a Resmed Quattro Air mask, but I didn't like the part that came down over the forehead/nose so I switched to a Airfit F10. I like the new mask so much better, but I'm having issues with the headgear, actually the same problem I had with the first one too. The headgear hurts the base of my head where the bottom part of it rests. I sometimes wake up in the middle of the night and all I can feel is that squeezing my head. I'm wondering if the standard size headgear is too small. Can anyone tell me, if I were to order a large headgear, do you think that would fix the problem? I'm not sure if the large size is any larger down there. I hate to give up on this mask, but I don't know how much longer I can deal with the irritation at the back of my head/neck.

The only way to know is to try.

I know, I just don't want to put out the money if it's not going to work.chunkyfrog wrote:The only way to know is to try.

Re: Question about Resmed Airfit F10 headgear
Nasal masks and nasal pillows don't generally require headgears that rest too low on the head/neck. Any possibility of using them instead ? Or, adding cushioning/padding to lessen the sensation with the ones you now have ? Is it possible you've got straps way tighter than necessary, to effect a good seal ? Good luck.

I'm a mouth breather. I think I'm just going to have to buy a large and see what happens.Gasper62 wrote:Nasal masks and nasal pillows don't generally require headgears that rest too low on the head/neck. Re: Question about Resmed Airfit F10 headgear
My Airfit F10 headgear rides a little lower on the back of my head than I'd like but fortunately it doesn't bother me. I've heard of people putting a couple layers of thick fleece around the lower part of the headgear. Maybe sew on some velcro so it can be removed from time to time for cleaning. Maybe (just maybe) Padacheek has a cushioning pad ready-made for that headgear.

I like my ResMed AirFit F10 FFM - reasonably low leaks for my ASV therapy. I'm currently using a PR S1 AutoSV 960P Advanced. I also keep a ResMed S9 Adapt as backup. I use a heated Hibernite hose. Still rockin' with Win 7 by using GWX to stop Win 10.
Re: Question about Resmed Airfit F10 headgear
My guess is that you'd have to tighten the larger headgear to the same degree. It's possible that you are getting pressure on a nerve that becomes painful over time.
You may want to check out Padacheek.com. Karen is a member here and she might have some form of padded strap that will distribute the pressure over a wider area so it's more comfortable. She will work with you if you need her to make something more custom for you.

Re: Question about Resmed Airfit F10 headgear
On my Comfortgel full face, the regular headgear was too large in the "halo" area,
so I shortened the three straps that encircle the back ring of the headgear.
This got the bottom off my neck. I recently bought a small Respironics headgear,
in hopes that it would work, but the G-D straps are too short!
When they say small, they mean toddler! Gee whiz!

Just another thought on headgear padding... send these folks a PM and ask what they might have for you (or what they can create).

Re: Question about Resmed Airfit F10 headgear
Understand this is an old thread but I know the F10 is still a popular ffm . The headgear hurt the back of my next so much so , I stopped using the F10 as soon as the F20 was released . Tried using the F20 headgear with the F10 mask . Don’t know why but the neck problem was solved .
