Hi,

I am from Mumbai , I am really confused and need your expert help.
My father is advised to have auto cpap machine on trial basis for few days and then buy the machine.
Can you help me out with best brands to try on and also any respiratory therapist name in Mumbai.

The auto cpap machine most widely available around the world are the ResMed and the Philips-Respironics ones.
Either will do very well. When you locate a supplier and they suggest a particular machine, please post back here with the model numbers to make sure he is getting one that can provide complete data on how his therapy is going. Some models only report hours of usage which is insufficient to determine if it is working.

In the Philips-Respironics line, the latest models are called DreamStation although you may find System One series 60 devices still in inventory. If you are offered a System One machine, only accept a model number of 560 or higher.

Others on this forum may comment on possible ResMed machines.

Good advice by JDS.

My experience is that CPAP device role is not that important - it is the mask that is the most critical to your father's therapy. Find a mask that is the most comfortable. This is the most difficult part i- that can make or break. I tested more than 10 masks, before settling with nasal pillow P10 and that after I have severe problems with other nasal pillow.

Amplifying JDS's info: In the end what you really want to get is a data capable machine.

Even both major CPAP machine manufacturers mentioned above make some old/new machines that are non-data capable (that means duds to be avoided). Here's a current data base that will tell you (in the right-most column) if important sleep data will be recorded. It will say yes or no.

https://sleep.tnet.com/cmd

The database is not entirely intuitive so if you have doubts ask questions here before you buy a machine - generally speaking they are difficult to return.

I like my ResMed AirFit F10 FFM - reasonably low leaks for my ASV therapy. I'm currently using a PR S1 AutoSV 960P Advanced. I also keep a ResMed S9 Adapt as backup. I use a heated Hibernite hose. Still rockin' with Win 7 by using GWX to stop Win 10.
