This forum is self-moderated.
Are you here for help, or to criticize?
We have both.

There are effectively no mods (none paying attention to every post all day). IF a poster becomes flagrantly abusive and responsible members cannot manage things, then we do contact admin and they do deal with it, but such events are few and far between. We believe, as apparently do the 'mods' (or admin) that we are adults, relatively intelligent, and able to manage relatively well given that the forum is to help others, not to stage wars. A few of us did offer you help, but until now you've never been back to comment, except to fuss about joining or 'mods', etc... but we've all managed to register successfully, never ever get spam generated by either website, and don't understand what looks like your fear of same, or misunderstanding of how to register and become a member. We can help with those, but you must be around to work with us after all - we have put some time into trying to help, and the mandate is to help with issues of OSA and Cpap therapy, not flame throwers.

And 'guests' are just that - you can post all you want, but don't have access to profile prefs, spam button usage (for when outsiders try to sell us something vs offer help), PMs, etc. Just like most other forums. We're just a bunch of people with OSA, trying to help each other, and if that's somehow a problem for you, it's unfortunate, but you're welcome to either join or not. This forum has been around for many years, and we like it the way it is compared to other similar ones that require members to 'behave' like children and regulate every little thing, and many of the members are extremely knowledgable and experienced re OSA, Cpap, equipment, meds and a lot more. If you'd be more comfortable somewhere else with lots of rules and taboos etc, that's fine, your prerogative, but we like things here the way they are and the 'mods' don't need any help.

By not registering, you have guaranteed that any moderator, (((if there were any)))
would have no way to contact you.
Anonymity has a downside.

My advise is to join, this site can always make room for one more trouble maker, you can perfect your skills, reading and listening. Jim

ever heard the term "you must be this tall to ride"?

you've repeatedly shown that you can't surmount the absurdly low entrance requirements here.

Normally I can't agree with you, but that one hit it out of the park. Not even with a metric tape masure. Jim

The issue is real and likely dissuading some folks here--if there are no mods I won't bring this up again. If any one can delete the whole thread, please do so. Sorry I brought it up!

Hi - not to hijack this thread, but I'm a new BiPAP user who is looking for some advice (this is my first post). This forum is great! However, I'm unable to register (so I'm thankful for guest posting!).

I accept the terms and conditions for the registration, enter my user name, password, and device information, click the box confirming that I'm a human and not a bot, and click register. Then I get a default 500 error message, "The http www cpaptalk com page isn’t working
http www cpaptalk com is currently unable to handle this request.
500 "

(I had to slightly modify that error message since guests can't post links.)

I'm an IT guy, so I know a 500 level error message is something server-side. I also see from this thread that there aren't any moderators, so I don't know where to inquire about it.

So, does anyone know whether there are any known issues with registration? The 500 level error message suggests it isn't just me, but I've searched and haven't really seen anything on registration issues. I just discovered this forum yesterday so I can only vouch for the registration issue yesterday and today. But, I'm thankful I can still browse and post as a guest.

And, I've found the posts very helpful. I didn't have a "burst" of energy the first day after using my machine, so the success stories are very enlightening!

Thanks for a great community, and for some enjoyable sarcasm mixed it!

Edit - I just registered! FYI: registration using Google Chrome results in a 500 level error (very odd, as that's a server side thing most always) but registration using Microsoft Edge worked fine!

So, begrudgingly, score one Microsoft. Thread closed.

Links are not the only thing that guests can't post. But as you noted, there's apparently no one to talk to about it--but plenty of ridicule to go around (with no mods to clean that up). First impressions great here. 2nd--not so much.
