Quick questions on the PR System1 series 60

Post by Bookbear » Thu Mar 24, 2016 1:40 pm

I have two questions:

Can the 60 series be used without the heated hose (i.e. will the heated humidifier actually work if only a regular hose is attached, not the heated one?)

Can the bluetooth option be ignored? (I want to continue using the SD card/Sleepyhead way of monitoring my therapy.)

Thanks!

Depending on where you live and the nightime temps and atmospheric relative humidity you might get some 'rainout' or condensation in your hose which leads to gurgling sounds or even water in your mask. If you do experience those things just come back and ask for help - it's easy to fix using several methods.

I like my ResMed AirFit F10 FFM - reasonably low leaks for my ASV therapy. I'm currently using a PR S1 AutoSV 960P Advanced. I also keep a ResMed S9 Adapt as backup. I use a heated Hibernite hose. Still rockin' with Win 7 by using GWX to stop Win 10.

Thank you... I have always (close to 10 years now) used a fleece hose cover, and that has worked quite well. I have never had issues with rainout. My question was (since the non-heated hose Respironics System 1 series 60's are getting really scarce now that the DreamStation has been introduced, and I understand that production on the System 1 is soon to stop all together) could a System 1 Series 60 with heated hose humidifier be used without a heated hose, or would that disable the heat in the humidifier. I would not be needing or using the heated hose, but I will need to replace my travel cpap. My current Series 50 will become the travel unit and a new machine will be the home unit. I want to stick with the System 1's so I can use the same filters and bag and such for business travel.

yes, you can use a plain hose, the heated hose is in no way mandatory

The heated hose has been mandatory on my machines since the day I started APAP.
I would be really unhappy if I couldn't replace my heated hose, between now and whenever I replace my PRS1 960 ASV.
Sounds like I may need to warehouse a few.

it's unlikely that they're going to immediately stop making *accessories* for the 60 series.

you can still buy new water tanks for oooold machines, for instance.
