Puritan Bennett Goodnight 420s

Post by Smgmore » Sat Mar 19, 2016 2:06 pm

I'm trying to use a previously owned Puritan Bennett 420s machine as a replacement for my 420g but I can't get the machine to deliver my proper pressure after I set it on the machine. The pressure starts out slowly even though there is no ramp set, then increases, becomes irratic and gives an error 1 message. Do I need to use the hose with the small pressure tube attached...I'm not doing this but rather using my 420g hose without the pressure tube.

Sounds like it has an internal (hardware) problem. And, I'm quite sure the hose wouldn't make a difference.
It could be that a hose nipple (connected to some pressure sensors) broke.
I had a similar problem with one of my old REMstar machines and fixed it myself.
At this point, you may as well open it up and see if you can see if you can see something broken.

Basically, the 420S was the same thing as the 420G but was data-capable and the information could be downloaded into the Silverlining software. As far as I know, the 420E was the only one which used the hose with the sensor tube.

Here are some links to a forum search I just did, which you may want to browse through to see if you can see something relevant.

The entry level cost of a low hours previous generation CPAP (ResMed S9 or PR system one) is usually $200 to $350... maybe lots lower in some cases. For example, there was a low hours current generation ResMed Aircurve BiPAP (bilevel) for sale today for $300.

Is that not realistic for you at this time?

I like my ResMed AirFit F10 FFM - reasonably low leaks for my ASV therapy. I'm currently using a PR S1 AutoSV 960P Advanced. I also keep a ResMed S9 Adapt as backup. I use a heated Hibernite hose. Still rockin' with Win 7 by using GWX to stop Win 10.
