Bridge Cut

Post by johnb2 » Thu Jul 13, 2006 1:17 pm

I have my CPAP since mid-May of this year. So I am still getting used to it. However, I have developed a nasty cut on the bridge of my nose from the mask I have, it's because I adjusted the nose piece too tightly due to dry-eyes. Apria said they will send a new nasal thing to use, which I think is cool.

When do I start feeling energized?

Hello John,

No CPAP mask should cut the bridge of your nose. Not all masks are created equal and Apria is known for giving out the less equal masks to less informed patients. CPAPtalk.com represents information and a path to getting equipment that works. Here is a list of cpap.com's most popular masks (masks that cut you tend not to be popular)

Here is a list of the historically best selling brands and types of masks:

It is hard to tell how you should be feeling until you can confirm that your therapy is effective. For this you should be tracking your nightly CPAP performance with software. Also, once you get your CPAP rig performing well, results vary. 99% of people will feel better, some do the very first night and some people have to pay down a 'sleep debt' before feeling better.

Welcome to cpaptalk! You are among friends and fellow travelers.

Johnny

I know this probably not the answer you want, but still:

You start feeling energized when you have a mask that doesn't leak, you don't mouth leak, and your machine has the right pressure definition. That's when you start sleeping without obstructive events.

And for some of us, even with all those things setup right, just getting used to "this new way of sleeping" also takes time.

So, there's hope.

Johnny G:

You can see the mask I have the ComfortGel Mask with Headgear, which appears popular. I had the thing so tight one night that in the morning it left a red rectangle on my forehead and the cut on the nose bridge. It happened.

Ozij:

I try not to make a big deal about the leaks but I know I have them, yet my wife says I no longer snore, so she's cool with it. I hope the nasal thing works better, whenever I get it. So I can recover my lost get up and go. Right now I feel like it got up and went!
