..YES!!!!!! ...Just got home!!!!!

Post by svo » Tue Mar 15, 2016 5:29 am

...and I am very happy..I had my second tritation study and this time it was a success..YES!!!!...I was able to sleep all night and the techs were able to do whatever they do..(I think is to find the right pressure and machine that I need)..after the first expirience being a total fiasco this time was a total pleasant expirience....and I think it is because I was provided with the right mask...last time the tech was a bit..never mind...this tech, after a small talk, said that I would do better with the same full face mask (I tend to open my mouth when I fall asleep) but she gave the AMARA VIEW and THAT did it.. what a confort..I thought that that mask would be good for me since I did research it with the help of you guys and the fact that covers lower bridge of nose to below lower lip, in my opinion it is less intrusive (I will call my doctor and tell her that I want that mask prescribed)...
I never thought that I would fall asleep with all the wires etc but I did to my surprise..soooo....I believe that sleeping at home without the wires and in my own bed and pillow things should be much easie,r if not the same.

The people in this forum are not only friendly (to put up with my nonsense) but very knowledgeable..THANK YOU ALL!!!!!...will continue to report lets see which bilevel machine I will be precribed..I do have a few favorite ones....and open to suggestions...

Congratulations on your pleasant experience at the titration!! Keep up this attitude as it will take you far in your CPAP treatment.
I am sure some Bi-level users will chime in with their experiences and preferences with those machines.

Glad it's going well. Which bilevel machines do you like?

Read the Useful Links in my signature line at the bottom of this post for a lot of information on not being screwed when you get your machine. Well, how to minimize the screwing, at least.

The Philips Respironics and ResMed bilevels are all OK, as far as I'm concerned. I'd probably slightly prefer the ResMed AirCurve 10 machines, but it's not a big difference.

The auto bilevel machines are always preferred over the manual bilevel machines, but you may not be able to get your DME/insurance/doctor to do that. The auto bilevel machine can be set to manual bilevel, so there's no downside for the patient.

...the latest is that the sleep center gave me this info when I called them today...the doctor still has to look at the second tritation study (last night) but I did very good and they believe that I wil be prescribed cpap (as in single and not bi) machine and that it appears that RESMED AUTOSENSE ELITE will be the one and also the AMARA FULL VIEW mask will be the one (it felt very good..I even went to sleep...lol)...but now since I am a worry wart, I looked at the dme under Medicare for my area and I do not see this model listed with anyone of the suppliers....maybe I should wait and see...something difficult for me since I do not like surprises, not even birthday parties.lol..

Resmed AIRsense 10 Elite.

there's nothing "auto" about the elite. but at least it does have full data.

the reason that I correct you is that when you start messing up model names and stuff, you may end up confusing people here, both those trying to help you, and future people looking for help, but even more important, you may hurt yourself...

with the previous line of machines from resmed, there was a "S9 Autoset" (great machine) and "S9 Escape Auto" (mostly crap machine)... some people who just got lazy and said "s9 auto" not only got confused advice here, but a few of 'em went into a DME, DEMANDED and "S9 AUTO!", and walked out with the crap escape model....

sometimes, correct terminology is important.

with your 'finger check', some people might have thought you meant "autoSET', and ignored the 'elite' part.

at any rate, if I were you, I'd push for the autoset model, which gives you the option of auto mode, even if you don't end up using it at first, it's a convenience that you might like at some point, and it would increase resale value if you end up selling it and buying something else at some point down the road.

I have a Resmed AirSense 10 Autoset For Her that I got through Medicare. Medicare doesn't care if you get an Elite or Autoset. I told my sleep doctor what I wanted when he wrote the prescription. Good luck, Earl

Do your research and select the auto machine you want both CPAP and BiLevel and when you get the official word, have your doctor write the prescription for the exact machine you want. He should then add the phrase dispense exactly as written.

Name similarity is common among cpap machines.
Obviously, someone likes to promote confusion.
