PC Board for PR BiPap Auto 750

Post by M'ohms » Mon Mar 14, 2016 5:42 pm

I was given a PR 750 with the plug-in socket broken off the computer board. Do I need to send the unit off to have the board switched out, or are there other more economical options? I would like to give this machine to my son without having to spend several hundred dollars on repairs. Thanks for any ideas.

I would suggest checking with these folks:

http://www.acbio.com

They have a location here in your state:

Indiana Facility
426 New York Ave., New Castle IN 47362
Toll Free: 1-800-376-5660
Toll Free: 1-888-327-7483
Fax: 1-352-389-6087

They've been a member of this forum almost since the beginning under the user name "Accurate" and have a number of satisfied forum members with their service.
Don't know how far away you are from them, but at least you're in the same state so the shipping should be less.

Thanks for the suggestion.

I called them and they recommend the board switch-out. Because of my husband's recent stroke, our mounting medical bills are leading me to look for alternatives.

Did they give you a "ballpark" figure?

And, which "plug-in socket"?
Is it an essential component to the operation of the machine?

Man, I'd like to hear the story behind that Last time I talked to Ian at Accurate BioMed he indicated that they moved their CPAP/BiPAP operation to Florida (lots of old coots, not his term). In Indiana they do the other medical equipment... O2 concentrators. liquid oxygen systems and so forth. All in all, a good place to call for your repair needs. In the past I have looked on youtube for motherboard repair options and have been surprised to see some useful stuff. Like this:

I like my ResMed AirFit F10 FFM - reasonably low leaks for my ASV therapy. I'm currently using a PR S1 AutoSV 960P Advanced. I also keep a ResMed S9 Adapt as backup. I use a heated Hibernite hose. Still rockin' with Win 7 by using GWX to stop Win 10.

As you can hopefully see, the broken plastic part is where the power cord plugs in. I guess the previous owner dropped it or something and it literally broke off the board. David told me to send it to New Castle, IN so I guess they can still service them there.

the inside metal bits look blackened or burned... how's the plug on the adapter look?

They're not blackened or burned. It's just the shadow cast by the overhead lights.

Yeah. Unfortunately, that's about the point where you might be able to find a complete and newer replacement machine for not much more........and you might end up with a "60 Series" machine.
"Grayghost4" frequently has some pretty good deals. You might check with him and see what he thinks or has available.
Or, there have been some others over the years who had new to lightly used machines......or secondwindcpap.com .

Or, maybe........a drop or two of Krazy Glue, some ABS cement, a little solder or whatever could hold it together for the time being.

I will make a couple of suggestions :

1) http://www.ebay.com/itm/DC-Power-Jack-S ... xyhodRvt14

look for one that matches ....

2) cut the end off of the power cord and solder it to the board.
If you're not part of the solution you're just scumming up the bottom of the beaker!

Get the Clinicians manual here : http://apneaboard.com/adjust-cpap-press ... tup-manual

from what I can see of the pics, this may be the jack:

http://www.mouser.com/ProductDetail/CUI ... LUtQ%3d%3d

here's a spec sheet with exact dimensions, you could measure the solder pads on the board with a good ruler:

http://www.mouser.com/ds/2/670/pj-036bh-smt-516018.pdf see if it looks like it'd fit.
