is Phillips system one DS260 Remstar Plus really that bad?
is Phillips system one DS260 Remstar Plus really that bad?
My almost 5 year old Phillips Respironics keeps stopping on me multiple times a night and I have to unplug and replug to get it to work again. I have high deductible insurance so I would have to pay $800 plus replacement out of pocket. I found a Is Respironics System One DS260 REMstar Plus CPAP refurbished, low hours (under 2000) with a 6 month warranty for $219 shipped. Is this ok? All my data on current machine is fine my events are really low etc. Seems all I need to do is set it on correct pressure and go?

If you're not part of the solution you're just scumming up the bottom of the beaker!

"Plus' machines give no useful data that you could track e.g. on Sleepyhead except for compliance, and you are obviously long past that stage.

Another good choice would be a used DS560 from Secondwind CPAP for $349. You could make the DS260 work if you absolutely have to get the price down to the $200 range, although I would keep looking. Although I only download my data about once a month, I still sometimes have the occasional night when I'm really glad to have the data. Such as: if I have a bad night, is it because of sleep apnea or something else?

thanks for the help Im going to go with the 560
Re: is Phillips system one DS260 Remstar Plus really that bad?
The 260 will do a fine job of blowing air at a fixed pressure. Unfortunately, it doesn't record any therapy data, other than hours of use and settings.
The big problem with any CPAP without full data is that you're "flying blind." A full data machine will give you sort of a mini sleep test every night. The only way to check how it's working is another $leep te$t.
Would you treat diabetes or high blood pressure without regular checks of blood sugar or pressure?
Unfortunately, a lot of doctors don't bother to check the data that CPAP machines collect, even if you have a full data machine.
It doesn't do "Flex," Respironics' flavor of exhale relief.
