A local pharmacy carries it in 3-inch and 3.5 inch heights. I like it higher and crammed up under my jaw. It seems to be more effective that way.

The cells in the polyfoam do slowly break down, and the collar begins to offer less support. I replace mine about every three months. They are only $8 so I am happy with this.

Gramps and I are going to be experimenting with a different type of collar. If it works better, I will post the results.
How warm does the collar get? That is one thing I have always wondered because I am a very hot natured individual. Well let's be honest I am fat and I sweat a lot because I am fat. So I was wanting to know warm it gets.

It's not a problem for Gramps or myself, and neither one of us likes to be warm in bed. But, the only way you can know how it affects you is to try one. It's a cheap trial - under ten bucks.

I just thought I would get an opinion before spending the few bucks lol. Thank you.

I live a couple hundred miles south of you in a subtropical climate. The collar does not add much heat to me. But, like Granny said, you have to try it yourself.

I've now been using one for over a week and I am sure it is making a difference. It was a cheap model and the securing strap of Velcro was sewn on the inside of the collar meaning it made contact with the side of my neck and creating some soreness. I've replaced it with a slightly bigger and thicker model with a wider strap which I'll be using for the first time tonight.

I really can't be too negative on the cervical collar. I wore it last night. I have settled in wearing the tape about 2/3 of the time and using the collar 1/3.

The things I like about the collar is that it kills 3 birds with 1 stone: 1. keeps my neck better aligned for good breathing. 2. keeps my chin up. 3. keeps my mouth closed.

The things I don't like about it is: 1. I live in a tropical climate and even with air conditioning, it makes me too warm. 2. My jaw is receded, so I need to overtighten it to keep my jaw from sneaking in between the collar and my chest.
