Sleep deficit and overeating

Post by amenite » Thu Mar 03, 2016 5:57 am

Brief synopsis of a study on the relationship between the two. I find it interesting since my weight has been slowly reducing since I began CPAP therapy 18 months ago.

I am so happy amenite that beginning pap therapy has led to you slowly losing weight.

I am not surprised at all by this article. I have have many sleep issues that are too long to get into but because of them, I have struggled in sticking to my low carb, high fat, moderate protein diet that I need to be on to prevent my pre diabetes from progressing to diabetes. Thankfully, I am thin so at least I don't have the weight issue to deal with.

Thanks for sharing the link.

Thanks for the article amenite.

This hits home for me, always has. Affirms what I thought to be the case.

I'm hopeful that if I can improve the number of quality hours of sleep I get I'll get my eating under control. Cravings kill me. I've dropped 10 pounds since the first of the year but I could stand to lose another 15-20 to be close to an ideal weight.

Hi Amenite!

First, congratulations on sticking with your therapy for 18 months. That is a great accomplishment. Second, I had to laugh at the title of the article as if losing sleep would also mellow a person's harsh. LOL. Oh My. What a nice benefit for you and thank you for sharing with everyone - losing weight, slowly and in a healthy way is great! I hope your health continues to improve.

Kind regards,
GB

I've got a ways to go yet, and I'm beginning to work on accelerating the weight loss also but it was really nice to see it start going in the right direction kind of "on its own".

Wow, ain't that the truth the CPAP can save us. Bad sleep = chow time on bad food. Good sleep means healthy eating.

Edit: as I sit here eating too much ice cream after a rough night's sleep from cold and stressful day at work, and now with completely stuffed up sinuses wondering just how I'm going to breathe with nasal pillows tonight. Let's see, nasal saline flush, nasocort, and if push comes to shove one nostril will get some afrin. just can't stand the FFMs.
