CMS50EW software installation questions
I purchased a pulse oximeter which came with a mini-disc to install the software for the oximeter. I have an old laptop that has a slot for the DVD drive. My new laptop did not come with a DVD drive so I can't install the software on the new laptop (which will be the computer I will be using). Does anyone know if I would be able to install the software on the old computer-but save it to a thumb drive instead of installing it on the old computer? I believe I would then be able to put that thumb drive into the new laptop and install the software on the new computer. I would think the manufacturer of the oximeter would have safeguards in place to prevent installing the software on more than one computer so I may only get one chance to install the software.
I may be able to get my son to hook up and external DVD reader so I could just put the software directly on my new laptop. He is so busy at work, and trying to raise 5 kids, that he may not be able to help me out anytime soon though. If anyone on the forum can help it would be appreciated!

Re: CMS50EW software installation questions
A thumb drive should work. I bought an external optical drive for my wife's new laptop. It wasn't very expensive but I don't recall what I paid for it.
There is no limit on how many computers the software can be installed on.

Thank you very much for your reply! It will be nice to be able to check out the data from the pulse oximeter occasionally.

Re: CMS50EW software installation questions
Thank you ClayL!!! The install of the software went successfully. And you were correct-it can be saved on more than one computer . As I guess you can tell, I am only passably efficient with a computer. A "computer guru" I'm not .
I do have another question that I hope someone can answer. I saved a couple of hours of data on the cms50ew. I then opened Sleepyhead and brought up the "Oximetry Wizard" to attempt to upload the Sp02 information to Sleepyhead. A "Warning" box appeared on my screen which stated that "No Oximetry module could parse the given file: C/Program files (86)Sp02 Assistant V2.70/Data/user etc. to upload the information to Sleepyhead. Am I doing something incorrectly? Or is Sleepyhead not able to upload the data from Sp02 Assistant?
Any help would be appreciated.

Re: CMS50EW software installation questions
Not sure of the CMS50EW, I don't use one, but I believe Sleepyhead downloads directly from the oximeter using only the cord that came with the oximeter, not a generic USB one.

Re: CMS50EW software installation questions
Thanks for your input OkyDoky!
I had the oximeter connected to the computer (with the original cord that came with the oximeter) when I uploaded the data to "Sp02 Assistant". But I believe when I used the "Oximetry Wizard" on Sleepyhead, I tried to import the data from Sp02 Assistant, not the device itself. That option (to upload from the device directly) is available I have now noted. I will try it again tonight after work and see if that makes a difference. Once again, thanks.

Re: CMS50EW software installation questions
I had a heck of a time getting the data into Sleepyhead and I don't remember how I did it
Other people had problems also and if you do a search on this forum you can find some info on how to do it.That is how I got it to work.
Pugsy may be able to help too if she sees this.

Re: CMS50EW software installation questions
If you are in my age group, remembering how we did things (especially those things that we haven't done recently) becomes a bit of a burden .
I did a search on the oximeter and read that others have had problems getting the data into Sleepyhead. One person made reference to changing the file type from Sp02 to sp02 or spo2. That's above my knowledge/pay grade when it comes to computers!!!. I'll try tonight to import the data directly from the oximeter as OkyDoky suggested. Hopefully that will work. If not, I'll continue my quest.
The data is in the "Sp02 Assistant" on the computer. I can view that without any problem. It is just that it would be nice to have the charts in Sleepyhead. The main reason I purchased the oximeter was to correlate O2 sats and heart rate during those periods that I had relatively prolonged, large leaks. The Resmed machine would not flag apneas during those periods. I'm assuming that if I have those periods of large leaks and an apnea could occurs, the O2 sat's might drop with a corresponding increase in heart rate. If I have to bring up charts independently on Sleepyhead and SpO2 Assistant, I will do that. It would just be nice to see that data on Sleepyhead for the continuity of charts provided.
Thanks for your help!
