Nasal mask and Valium = Success

Post by Phalbe » Wed Jan 13, 2016 6:27 pm

Rocky start over Christmas. Finally, after talking to LinCare the next week, I realized it wasn't the machine, it was me. Me and my anxiety. Got a 30-day Rx for 5 mg. Valium, which I take at 9:30 pm. Spent the next four nights at just over seven hours each. Last night was my first eight-hour night. Now I'm calm and it all makes sense. Still don't feel as good as I did after just one hour on the test night, but that's a battle for another day.

Valium - 1, Claustrophobia - 0.

Oh -- And I turned off the ramp time. It was bugging me.

A good next goal would be:

Sleepyhead - 1, Claustrophobia 0, Valium 0

In the meantime, congratulations and enjoy the excellent progress you have made!

Glad you've gotten some rest... but I agree with Granny. Valium is real easy to get used to and is simply a poor crutch to replace naturally induced sleep... NTM, the many side-effects that can cause problems down the road. Tread with caution using it, plus talk to your doctor about the downside of using tranquilizers and anti-anxiety meds on a daily basis. After long term usage always taper off the dosage a little bit at a time. Again, talk to a doctor with experience in that realm.

I like my ResMed AirFit F10 FFM - reasonably low leaks for my ASV therapy. I'm currently using a PR S1 AutoSV 960P Advanced. I also keep a ResMed S9 Adapt as backup. I use a heated Hibernite hose. Still rockin' with Win 7 by using GWX to stop Win 10.

Valium is highly addictive. Personally, I would not use it more than a couple of nights. Try Benadryl instead if you absolutely have to have something. Non-addictive but helps some people sleep.

Very slippery slope - it won't stay good for long. Do talk to a doctor who understands about apnea and meds.
