wahooker,
My home machine is a PR System One auto with A-Flex. My travel machine has been the Z1 Auto since last October 2014 and prior to that the Z1 cpap. I travel Monday-Friday between 35 and 45 weeks a year via plane which means that I use my Z1 Auto 4 nights a week minimum.
Even before but especially since the latest firmware update, My Z1 Auto is every bit as comfortable as my PRS1 with the exception of the heated hose humidification, which the Z1 doesn't have. I use the disposable HME's for humidification. Prior to now, the Z1 Auto's algorithm for exhale relief (the equivalent to C-Flex) was never as transparent as C-Flex or A-Flex but since I used the machine so often, I quickly got used to it. This latest update to the APAP-2 algorithm which I've been using for months now makes it transparent to the user.
While the noise never bothered me, I find that the Q-Tube works great and makes the machine much more quiet for both the user and the sleeping partner.
I carry mine in my backpack. It boarded 121 separate flights last year and got dropped along with the bag innumerable times and has never had any issue. It looks frail but is quite robust.
While I have the battery I only used it with the Z1 Cpap when my pressure was 8...it worked fine but with my current APAP pressure of 14-20 it can only provide about 5 hours of power so I no longer use it.
I always post on these travel cpap threads because I have so much POSITIVE experience with the Z1. I personally would never again travel with anything bigger than my Z1.

like above, i travel about 49 weeks per year, using the transcend about 4 nights per week. Been using the transcend about 2 years i guess at this point. I love it for travel and would have no issue using it at home. I dont get effected by any noise from it but im not the norm possibly. id highly recommend it
