Okay I got the little sheep icon up on my computer. Now I have to figure out how to get the card out of the RESmed sleep machine and into the computer without breaking anything.

here's very good detailed instructions. there's three pages in total, look for the link at the bottom of each page going to the next page. read all three.

http://imgur.com/1oNDR0Y this is the data. If you see the purple is central events. I think for some reason, the machine pressure is too high and now he is having central events. It was better last night only 3.4 AHI or something like that. What do I do now? It takes two weeks to get an phone appointment and a month to see the doctor. My husband told me, his sleep study said he needed an 8 pressure. He still felt like he couldn't breath so the lab tech pushed it up to 10. I think it's too much. I think maybe 9 or just put back to 8. I have been watching him sleep and he's holding his breath. His oxygen is completely normal. He had that checked last month. We have Kaiser and they explained NOTHING!

go back and read, and follow, the first page of instructions, showing what we want to see.

yes, 3.9 is an acceptable, though not stellar. what's the problem?

Sometimes, it goes up REALLY high like it will be 12 one day. and his average is like 6.9. I want that average to go down. If you look, IMO he's having central events because I think the pressures are too high. I think it needs to be 9. I also do not understand why, he gets up at 5 am and it will be 3 AHI and then he turns off blower, goes to bathroom and then lays down for another 1 or 2 and then the number is 13 AHI.

Is he having trouble falling asleep...staying asleep..or when he gets up at 5 AM and goes back to bed and has the high AHI during the next 2 hours is he actually asleep?

If there are times where he is awake/semi awake then it is possible that the machine is flagging awake breathing irregularities by mistake.

Has something changed in his routine around the time you start to see the increase in central events?
Meds?
Sleep quality?
Bedtime routine?

Can you post an image of the daily detailed graphs from a "bad" night?

like pugsy says, show us some data.

don't look at the stupid AHI strip chart on sleepyhead, what matters is the full overnight average.

1. im sorry about this problem, but you need to be aggressive about your own care.

2. sleep studies can be notoriously misleading at times for certain people. I didnt get a reliable sleep test until my fifth try. Most people dont sleep well in a strange place or highly dosed with sleeping pills.

3. the numbers can really skew, it would seem, during certain sleep patterns and at different times, but the fact that it is consistently happening upon awakening then sleeping, you need to take it seriously.

4. oximetry is critical with this, as it was with mine. I "self switched" myself to bipap. It made a tremendous difference pretty quickly. But the sleep test showed i was STILL de-oximetrizing down into the 80's with pressures of 14/11. Prior to this my AHI was GOOD with CPAP! So the AHI can be misleading, IMHO. Dont forget, ive read, that most apnea is upon EXHALE not INHALE

5. Im not an expert on central sleep apnea, there are others here for that. But if you cant afford it you need to get educated quick. You can probably buy a machine here or on craigs/ebay whatever if you need one but i wouldnt procrastinate.

6. Septoplasty should be considered. His turbinates may need re-sectioned.

7. Its possible that even if he has a full face mask-----he could be nasally swelling up, OR simply have the facial anatomy that "locks down" into nasal breathing. My girlfriend does this. She will need cpap soon. She snores. And no matter how closed your nose, if youre in a deep sleep youre gonna breathe through it, like squeezing an apple through a straw. EXPLODINGINGLY bad situation

8. Im wondering if combining devices to force the jaw forward combined with pap will help?

9. Humidity in the room could be a major factor in triggering various breathing issues that interfere with pap

10. ******I ADVISE USING A NEUROLOGIST WHO IS ALSO A SLEEP THERAPIST. LIKE THIS PHYSICIAN, ONCE AT CLEVELAND CLINIC BUT NOW IN OWN PRACTICE http://doctor.webmd.com/doctor/william- ... 4-overview

email me if you'd like lifecyclesystems@gmail.com

Okay I will put up a bad night. IF you look at the AHI 3 month bar graph everything was a okay in the beginning. He was not having many central events. He doesn't have any other health problems. He is on no medications. He had a full physical. He can exercise on a stair machine at 19 and the highest the machine goes is 20. He can keep that up for 45 minutes. He hurt himself picking up a heavy box of metal coins and sometimes his back hurts and he has trouble sleeping. He's been having trouble sleeping and he keeps the mask on anyway. Maybe the machine goes high because he is NOT sleeping. He was doing pretty good at pressure of eight, but then they boosted up to 10. All seemed well. He got a bad bad virus and was sick for 5 weeks about 2 months ago. That's when the trouble started. I have Kaiser, and they will not refer me to a neurologist. HERE is our choices 1. have the respiratory therapist adjust the pressure. 2. see another sleep doctor. I wish I COULD take better control but I have to pay 151 dollars a doctor visit. I pay a lot more for a specialist. We pay out 895 dollars a month for the privilege of this insurance. Husband has his own company and this is all we can get. http://imgur.com/a/xZfxg

The sleep study he took was at our house. He was sent home with a bunch of equipment. They would probably let us do another one. The respiratory therapist told us that some people start having central events when the obstructive problem is cured. He called it idiopathic meaning, WE HAVE NO IDEA WHY! I suppose if the sleep guy saw something he would recommend the Bipap. I am not sure.

Oops I didn't post the right thing. http://imgur.com/a/6kzlj This is the bad night. Sorry. Thanks for helping me everyone. My husband is sitting next to me and he just told me he's having trouble sleeping in the morning and he's tossing and turning because his hip and back hurts from when he hurt himself picking up the heavy box. He has back problems that come and go.
