Devilbiss Intellipap humidifier switching off

Post by tomlee » Sun Jan 03, 2016 4:30 am

Happy New Year to all!!
Just wondering if anyone has the same problem with their Devilbiss humidifier switching off by itself, as if the humidifier is not connected, the little round light under the humidity controls turns off. This problem started a few months ago but I managed to get it working by reconnecting the humidifier to the CPAP unit. So I thought it must be a connection problem with the rectangular electrical connection. I have cleaned it out and made sure the connection is good but the problem is getting worse, to a point where the humidifier will switch off after only a few second of use and never come back on again. Sometimes it doesn't even come on at all.
Does anyone have the same problem and found a way to fix it. I purchased the machine in the US but I live in Australia. So warranty return or repairs is not really practical because of the shipping costs involved. I would happily purchase another humidifier if the problem lies with the humidifier and not the CPAP machine itself.
Thanks !

I rarely use the humidifier, but have had no trouble... Another member (Wulfman) who signs off as 'Den' is more likely to help a bit later. Have you gone over the clinician's manual looking for answers (just wondering if you inadvertently set things up when first starting out - for a certain time period). You could also try writing to DV to see what they say (I've called them on occasion for this or that).

Thanks for you reply Julie.
I have gone through the manual but didn't find anything useful there. The humidifier was working fine for the first two years until it started switching off intermittently and it became more frequent, until recently it would just hardly work. I do travel frequently and carry the machine with me, so I do seperate the humidifier from the main machine maybe a few times every month, not that I think have anything to do with it.
I tried looking for a email address to write to DV but couldn't find one. So I have written to CPAP.com where I purchased the machine, hoping they might be able to help, still awaiting reply.

Admittedly, I haven't because i purchased my machine directly from the US and I doubted whether their Australian counterpart would give me any support because I didn't purchase from them. But I will try them if I don't get any joy from elsewhere.
