I am sorry to hear of your struggles. Everybody adjusts differently. I found it helpful to read and play video games while watching it. Many others on this site recommend it as a way of getting used to it. Many watch TV with it on. After awhile you forget to monitor your breathing. Once you do that, your body takes over and you will breath like you normally do. The nice thing about your machine is that your breathing controls it. It will adjust to how you want to breath. It does it automatically. At first I was trying to breath in sync with it. For some reason, I kept breathing faster and faster. I felt silly when I realized that it was just responding to me.
Eventually the brain has adjusted and thinks that it is normal. It takes awhile. Now I have to check to see it if is still on at times. I can't even feel the pressure some of the time. Go Figure.
Good Luck!
