"When in doubt throw it out" it costs a couple of dollars to replace.
I think you did the right thing, maybe someone having a little fun with ya(?) and you still have your senses, your common sense.
My wife tells me that plastics will leach into contents under heat .

She might be right-ya ever smell burning plastic?
BPA was a huge cash cow for the container industry.
You can make a lot of money by scaring people.
Too bad they don't get scared by the TRUTH about tobacco!
