I fear my nose is getting wider by using Nose Pillow

Post by AnotherMe » Sun Dec 27, 2015 10:02 am

Hi all,
I know this sounds kind of funny. But I fear my nose and nostrils might be getting larger after using the cpap nose pillow for a number of years. I hope this is just my imagination. I already have a large nose and I realize noses get larger with age. Does anyone know if this actually happens to people?
Perhaps there is a different mask I should be using rather than the nose pillow?
Please let me know.
Thanks

If that were true, by now I would have a wide enough nose to work with the Amara View.
NOPE.
Continue using whatever mask WORKS for you.
If vanity matters to you, remember that dead is as ugly as you can get.

Pillows do not sit IN your nose but ON........ so how would they make your nose get bigger??????????????????? The only nose problem I have had was when I was using a too large pillow and had it too tight against my nose, was to rub the edge of my nares and make them raw... lesson learned by this hosehead .
Started cpap in 2010.. still at it with great results.

lol! I hope it's not happening. I HATE MY HOSE! lol
What about a nose job with sleep apnea? That sounds difficult!

Maybe plastic surgery to ASSIST with wearing a mask?
Implanted rare earth magnets in my face?
Hmmm, no headgear?
(Hops over to drawing board)

Love your natural self.
Beauty is at least as much in functionality as in arbitrary proportion.
A nose "bob" could negatively affect airflow--ya never know!

Your nose doesn't get bigger with age, your face sinks in around it.

If the stretching is a concern. Have you considered the dreamwear mask? It's like a cross between pillows and nasal mask. Personally it is too noisy for me. Another option is the Eson mask. It's a nasal mask but fairly quiet

Every morning I wake up with my Amara View mask I have to massage my nose a few seconds as it seems a little tender but that goes away in 15 minutes or so. Lots of challenges getting our bodies used to this new gear.

Glad to see you mentioned the noise factor.

Sometimes I find my Amara View noisy in terms of transmitting my inhale and exhale breathing noise but at other times it isn't that noticeable.

It is probably vibration more than anything as my wife says it is quiet.

Been using nasal pillows since 2005. Was hoping my narrow slotted nares would one day be able to flare, but alas, no. But I do believe there is just a hint of more openness. Maybe one day when I'm bored I'll look for an old picture for comparison. At this rate it would take me another 20 years to achieve the nose I think I want. I doubt you have anything to worry about.

5 years of using the hybrid nasal pillows - still using the same size.
