Tube Cover for Resmed Heated Tube on Airsense 10

Post by vitomatt » Fri Dec 18, 2015 1:56 pm

Just double checking:

i have airsense 10 with heated tube.

is it okay to use tubing wrap or cover like the one below on a heated tube?

https://www.cpap.com/productpage/resmed ... -wrap.html

would it keep the tube too warm? mess w/ the heating? do anything wrong?

thanks!

For the heated tube, you need the standard tube wrapping. It is a little longer than the slimline. It can also be adapted to slimline.

The tube is temperature controlled as apposed to constant power so there is no harm in using the cover. It is great for keeping the tube from making noise when you pull it across the nightstand/headboard.

The hose covers for the heated hoses like for the ResMed heated hoses and Respironics heated hoses won't keep things too warm. What they will do is probably use less power to maintain whatever temp you select because the hose cover will keep heat loss from happening as much.
People have used the ResMed skinny hose you linked to and even much thicker hose cozies without any issues.

Now if you were using a stand alone heated hose like the Hybernite heated hose where the heat is always on and there is no actual temperature setting then the hose cozies are definitely ill advised because the air will get way too warm (been there and done that).

I have used the hose cozy you linked to above with my ClimateLine hose and all it did was keep the air at the temp I selected. There is a temp sensor in the hose so it will just stay at whatever you select without adding warmth on top of whatever the heating coils provide. The heating coils just won't have to work so hard.

The hose you linked to above is what I call the "skinny" hose because it is made out of rather thin material as opposed to fleece. It is a little bit too short to cover the entire ClimateLine hose by about 6 inches. Not really an issue if you want to use it. I just let it be short at the humidifier end.

I use the Snugglehose version on mine: https://www.cpap.com/productpage/snuggl ... cover.html

Have not had any issues at all, and it is long enough. I just use it for comfort and appearance.

I use a Snuggle Hose (from cpap dot com) on my ClimateLine heated hose with no problems at all.

I use a Respironics hose wrap on my Hybernite and don't have any temperature issues.
