Cleaning Dreamwear Mask

Post by Sonnyboy » Fri Dec 18, 2015 6:33 am

I used the Dreamwear mask for the first time last night. Air blew into my face with the medium frame so I ordered a small frame and this problem resolved for me. I still have some fit adjustments to work out but overall I do like the mask a lot and I am hopeful it will solve my leak problems.

The manual recommends daily cleaning for the frame and cushion and I am wondering how this is working out for experienced users. Are you following these guidelines? If so, how are you able to dry the tubular parts by bedtime and is this even important?

I see no need to wash the frame daily. Don't see how it could be getting all that dirty myself.
You know I did try the DreamWear for a month just to be trying it. I never washed anything during that time frame. I did wash the nose cushion before I put the mask up for storage just so It would be clean in case I used it again later. Actually never thought about washing the frame... didn't bother to read the directions either....but that's just me.

I think this is another one of those things that come with a big YMMV sticker. Do what you are comfortable with and makes you happy.

I will say that I would amend my rather lax cleaning schedule if for some reason I had a drippy/snotty nose.
I do the same with nasal pillows...don't wash all that often unless the nose is a bit drippy.
I no longer use Lansinoh (I washed more often when I did use it) and I rarely have a snotty/drippy nose.
I don't get colds very often at all...and I don't get allergy issues very much either and when I do it's usually a very minor congestion thing that usually responds to some simply saline/flonase and high humidity on my machine.

If my nose was runny/drippy and all the yucky stuff that might go along with allergies or an upper respiratory infection...I do wash the nasal pillows daily when I am ill. Not so much for germ control because the germs have already bitten me...but just because of the yuck factor. While my standards might seem low to some people...I do have some standards

Makes sense to me.

I clean my Dreamwear cushion each morning with 1/2 of a sensitive skin (no alcohol) baby wipe.
I clean the frame and cozys once a week in warm water with baby shampoo. I wash it in the morning and hang up to dry.
The frame is dry by bedtime. I have two sets of cozys so they don't have to be dry in one day.
