what exactly is the smart card (I know it's used in the Remstar machines)? Is it a memory card similar to those used in digital cameras? If so, which format - SD, CF, XD?

The smart card comes with many Respironic machines. Some store more information than others, i.e. the more expensive store more informative information. The card is the size of a credit card and on the end is a small area that makes contact inside the pap machine. It is only aboout 1/2" X 1/2' in size. You could compare it to a card key like some motel/hotels use. Normally, it will store about a weeks detailed information. You can search and find pics of them. You need a card reader to read the card and software to process it. I assume it has it's own format. Those cards you mention are not compatible. Hope this info helps.

I couldn't find the quick checkout option. Lol, I think I am just going to give up on two factors and just attribute it to their site is not good enough. I will pay the extra and snag it from the link Linda Mentioned, thanks for the alternate source btw. I ordered mine from cpap.com but $99 is a bit much for a simple card reader and I couldn't justify ordering a 2nd one from them.

Thanks!!

Thanks so much for the link! That did the trick. I placed the item in my 'shopping cart' then hit that link and did the quick checkout option. There was an entirely different UI when I went to the site before. From the "quick checkout" method I had to choose between the $7.80 internationl post or $25 fedex, on the old site it said "$50 zone rate is only option for this order"...strange.

Secure Tech e-mailed me back on shipping

DHL ground $8 FedEx Ground $9, I would rather order from some place in america, than some place that has not bothered to e-mail me back in a week

I would order from the company I felt the most comfortable with. Many including myself have ordered from 2factors. I believe you will see that they manufacture the one you order in the USA. What's a couple of ten skins to buy from the USA? I was trying to answer some of the questions asked concerning them. Good Luck with your order. In any event, I think you will like getting the readout.

I ordered mine from 2Factors last night after midnight, I got a confirm e-mail 15 minutes after the buy, and in the moring they sent me a notice it was being shiped. Although their site still sucks, and the paypal is unsecure, they are working, and I don't get that kind of service from american companies, with the exception of CPAP.Com.

The last time I used PayPay from them I got scam e-mail, and I expect to get it again, I just ignore it. Jim

They probably didn't get back to you because you had trouble following the bouncing ball, they call a web site. I can't inagine they could overhaul it and not make it better, the Asian mindset, must be different than American, but then again, you can't get any answers from American web sites that make sense, at the Corp level. The Teckie's and the Suits Speak different languages, and not to each other at all. Jim
