Do I need to increase my pressure?

Post by Ricochet » Wed Nov 18, 2015 8:50 pm

Here are the last 2 nights on my machine.

and last night

My med pressure is almost 10 and my machine is set at 8 - 15. 95% of my pressure is 12 to 13 cm. With spikes to 15 cm. I was wondering what you think it should be set at?

Any suggestions would be welcome...

I would increase the minimum pressure to 10 for a few nights to see whether the AHI goes down. It should reduce the OA and H, but, may not change the CA.
Are you very restless at night? Do you change position often?

At this point, I would suggest a straight pressure setting of 9 cm. and see what a few nights of that setting looks like.
I'm looking in the report at where your pressure line is........where there are the fewest number of events.
In my opinion, a pressure range ain't your cup of tea.

I tried to last night. But, if you're not willing to try my suggestion, I'm done.

Sorry Den I didn't get to see your suggestion till tonight.

Your saying to put the machine on a cpap mode at 9 correct?

Do I just set min and max pressure to 9 ?

If so how do I do that?
OK. Yes, that's what I'm saying.

If you don't have a copy of the clinical manual, here's a link.

Me too. Will do the same.
Along with what I mentioned before about looking for the pressure where your events were fewer, some folks who have "pressure induced Centrals" are more susceptible to them over the pressure of 10 cm. That's why ResMed had their A10 algorithm for several generations of Auto CPAPs before the S9s, when they came up with another algorithm. That A10 tried not to address apneas above the pressure of 10 cm. UNLESS there were certain specific conditions present.......and thereby tried to avoid triggering Centrals.
Supposedly, only about 15% of folks are susceptible to "pressure-induced Centrals". I don't know if you fall into that category, but that's another reason I picked a pressure below 10 cm.

Well it was a better night. I think I will give this a few days and see what happens...

One questions. If these centrals are because of short wake ups will they go away with time ?

Yep. That's better than some of the previous ones.
I don't know for sure, but keep an eye on it and see what happens.

Crap the last 2 nights are more of the same

and then last night even worse...

Should I increase the pressure ?

Do i have to be worried of these centrals?

I'm somewhat puzzled by the clusters.........obstructives and centrals.
I also notice your leak rate jumps up (on the report chart) during those times, too.
And, I see you're using a nasal mask.
So, I'm wondering is some of them are positional for the obstructives, or your mouth is falling open and the machine can't detect what is happening for sure and scores the others as centrals.

So........do you sleep on your back at times and could your mouth be falling open?
