Autopap struggle
Autopap struggle
I have severe sleep apnea and have had claustrophobia with a CPAP in the past. My dr. said I either need surgery or to give a machine another try so I have diligently been trying an autopap. Unfortunately, I don't have a lot of positive things to say. I have not felt more rested and have in fact felt kind of foggy and out of it. I have been having chest pains and the worst of all, I have been having CRAZY mood swings. I am normally a pretty level headed person(of course we all have our moments:) and I have never had any sort of depression. Since starting my autopap I have felt out of control. The first day I felt extremely agitated and angry for no reason. The third day I started feeling extremely depressed and have not been able to shake it. I've actually been sleeping with the mask for about 7 hours a night but have never been so miserable. Has anyone else experienced these kind of issues?

If you're not part of the solution you're just scumming up the bottom of the beaker!

You're going to need to get the Sleepyhead software to see what your machine is doing while you're sleeping.sketchy31 wrote:I have severe sleep apnea and have had claustrophobia with a CPAP in the past. If it's set to a wide-open range, it's almost useless. Auto-CPAPs need to be set to pressures that are going to PREVENT apneas and hypopneas. In wide ranges of pressure, it can take too long to respond.......plus, it needs Flow Limitations and Snores to cause it to increase pressures.
You're definitely not alone in how you feel trying to use an APAP in a range of pressures. Many people also have their sleep disturbed by the changing pressures.......and then feel unrested.
You need to tell us what machine and mask you're using, the pressure settings and anything else you can provide in the way of information for us to work with.
