The problem for Canadians iis the manufacturers strangle hold. ResMed & resperonics will not allow seller to ship out of the USA. Second wind does not buy from them so is not controlled by them.
I bought from CPAP.com with a Canadian prescription (In French!!!!) without problems. But rules change too.

Go ahead and order the equipment. People here will hold your hand and help you read the software graphs - you will be able to see every breath you take.

and remember IT IS JUST AIR! Nothing more, nothing less. You can't even blow up a balloon with the pressure it puts out!

Diabetic kids manage to test their blood sugar levels and inject a toxic substance at the right dosage several times a day. You can control the air you breath at night!

Online suppliers like cpap.com would gladly ship you a machine with a RX on file but it wouldn't/couldn't be a ResMed or Respironics machine. That is because both ResMed and Respironics won't allow it....not because cpap.com doesn't what to do it. If they don't sign the contract they can't buy directly from the manufacturers.
Secondwindcpap.com is more of a secondary market supplier so they don't have to sign any such contracts and they don't buy directly from the manufacturers...what their sources for new open box machines is I don't know but the gently used comes from cpap users who either give up or maybe they end up with a different machine or whatever.

I personally know more than a dozen international people who have bought from secondwindcpap.com....all happy campers.
I don't know how they get past the "RX on file thing" and I don't really care.
It probably has to do with some sort of fine print in the rules and regulations for international sales but I never wanted to rock the boat. It's enough for me that there is a way around the restrictions and people can get what they want without a lot of hassle.

Many thanks for all the input!!

I did it. I hit the buy button, so the CPAP and mask will be arriving here hopefully within the next 10 days or so.

I know this sounds soppy but seriously, the kindness of strangers overwhelms me today.

Everyone who has posted here has my most sincere thanks. I plan to hang out here if that's ok?! LOL.

I think I am going to be able to sleep tonight just knowing that I have done something positive to help myself. Now whether that is a good thing or not (sleeping with apnea) ... well who knows?
