The Sink How Clean?

to sewtired- I use the baby wash-- Dial Baby- body and hair wash. fragrance free, gentle formula. It has no smell Walmart has it.

If you want a nice after smell- Johnson's baby shampoo.

So now the sink is a filthy place? Well I guess I better start washing my plates and cups somewhere else. Maybe the creek behind my neighbors yard. I am sure it is probable clean... Just clean stuff how you are comfortable with it.

I have a dedicated dishpan that I use only for cleaning cpap stuff. It gets rinsed before I use it, since I don't use it that often. But I liked the comment my sleep doctor made to me about not getting obsessed about cleanliness since you're never going to get things sterile anyways *smile*. Even if you want them to be. Which is a good perspective, just take reasonable efforts to keep things clean and call it a day. While I wouldn't use my kitchen sink directly to wash my cpap stuff, a plain old dishpan is fine with me *smile*.

When I wash mine, I use a large plastic bowl that we used to use for popcorn before I had too many teeth removed.

Ditto, Buford...I just use a mixing bowl that I keep in the kitchen drain..Put a drop or two of antibacterial soap, sometimes a little white vinegar, let it soak 5 minutes or so, rinse and put it back on my bed on a small towel to dry...Ready to go when I head for the rack at night.

I use a Sterilite ClearView Latch Storage Tote - Purple (15 qt)http://www.target.com/p/sterilite-clear ... A-13794491. They are $4.00 at Target.

It holds everything while soaking (mask, headgear, cushions, humidifier tank, and hose). When I'm done it hold my tube brush and the Palmolive Ultra Pure + Clear soap I use to wash everything.

Why don't you just put yourself in a bag including the mask fill it up with soap and water completely (no air) seal it and jump around!

I am an indoor environmental consultant. I work in assessing microbial remediation and clean environments. Sinks are notorious for being bacterial/viral reservoirs. I suggest, as have others, that you use a bowl or a bag (whatever your preference) to clean the equipment. Any liquid soap that is to your liking should be fine. If you have odor sensitivities as some of our clients do, odorless soaps are available that should be to your liking. In my opinion the most successful cleaning efforts depend upon dwell time (the amount if time the cleaning agent in in contact with the surfaces being cleaned). 5-10 minutes of soaking should be sufficient. Agitation with a brush is also recommended (remember the nooks and crannies). Then rinse for a few minutes using both warm and cold clean water. Wipe with a clean cloth and allow to air dry. Once a week should be sufficient (unless you are coal mining in the CPAP) or unless you have a cold or other illness. Depending upon location/housekeeping habits it may not be a bad idea to slip a ziplock over the mask during the day. Not saying you have a dirty house, I just don't know you and your residential environment, i.e. you may live on/near a farm/ranch etc. or your sensitivities.
