self titrate.

Post by tiredandscared » Wed Nov 04, 2015 8:15 am

Any idea which minimum and maximum pressure I should be at for my resmed autoset with these stats:

AHI: 10.8 ( Ahi: REM 20.4, NREM 9.
3)
AHI positions ( 7.7 supine, 14.5 stomuch, right side 7.7, left side 13.2)
Time below 90% : 0(I've recorded as much as 0.01 to 0.6% on worse days)
RDI: 17
Saturation average: 95( has been as low as 94)
Saturation nadir: 92(my lowest recorded nadir was 86-87)
respitory events: 18
Sleep time: 5.58 hours
REM latency: 87 minutes. ( I was on REM reducing antihistamine, so I have 5% less than normal)
Wake: 20 times
Sleep effeciency: 70%

Have you even been to a sleep doctor?

Yes I have. She recommended I'd get one those jaw thingies. I already have a cpap machine. So it's linda useless for me. I'd rather just titrate.

What are your pressures set at now? Are you using Sleepyhead?

I do not have the sleepy head program. And at the moment no memory card for the machine. I've set the minimum pressure at 7 and maximum 18.

Go out and purchase an SD card for about $5 (Best Buy, Walmart etc) Download the free Sleepyhead software. Meanwhile...increase your lower pressure to 8 and see what your AHI reads. However...1 night does not mean much. You need to see several nights.

You have a S9 AutoSet? There's data available on the LCD screen. What does it say?

Your sleep study results are zero help in figuring out pressure needs.

I'm having issues with the CPAP having a HIGH airflow, even at low airpressure settings.

How do you know that...are you measuring the air flow?

Huh? You've got your max pressure at 18 and you THINK you're having issues with the high air flow?

You DEFINITELY need to get the software......it's FREE......(and another SD card) and see what's going on during the night.
You're probably spending much more time at the higher pressures and the minimum is too low.

I think it's broken. I tried resetting it and putting the settings on default. None of this worked for a bit. I did a thread search and the problems I'm having match some of those that mentioned the pressure sensor is broken. Any advice (I can't send this in to the US because it's too costly and the warranty only works for the country you bought it in). Will i have to but a new machine?

HOW are you trying to reset it?
"Default" settings have to be manually set and the pressure range is 4 - 20 cm.
There is not an option for making it reset back to "default" settings.

It sounds like you already have a manual or instructions for getting into the clinical settings since you've already mentioned making settings changes.

Try setting it to a straight pressure (CPAP) setting and see how that feels.

Find a dealer that can measure the airflow accuracy with a manometer. It may not be defective

what makes you "think" that there's a high air flow at low pressures?

if the mask isn't on your face, there's no pressure, not low pressure, and any airflow is meaningless.
