"Please remember that you must not use solutions containing vinegar, bleach, chlorine, alcohol, aromatics, moisturizers, antibacterial agents or scented oils to clean any part of the mask system or air tubing. These solutions could cause damage and reduce the life of the product."

One note: the Dreamwear Under Nasal Mask, according to their literature, can in fact be placed in the dishwasher.
Vinegar and Water
Re: Vinegar and Water
How much more bizarre can the pharmaceutical commercials get?
Re: Vinegar and Water
The ingredient list on my antibacterial hand soap has alcohol as it's 3rd ingredient. Alcohol is not supposed to be used on masks.

Re: Vinegar and Water
Thanks N2it. I guess I'll stop using the vinegar and just use the baby shampoo. Makes my life easier.

Re: Vinegar and Water
Which is why I am fairly certain that they are saying not to use either. I still like the baby shampoo idea for the tank and hose...I've been using Dove hand soap on the Dreamwear.Cardsfan wrote:The ingredient list on my antibacterial hand soap has alcohol as it's 3rd ingredient. Quite a bit of overkill. Surely much of it was on the advice of lawyers.n2it wrote:From ResMed website:

I've been washing my masks in a generic handsoap for about 15 years. The masks last a year or more with no signs of breakdown.
The hand soap I have been using has an ingredient list of -
No use to be scared of things because of chemical names. Your entire body, including the bloodstream, the sacs in the lung, and the brain, is made up of chemicals.PURIFIED WATER USP;Sodium laureth sulfate;Sodium chloride;Cocamidopropyl Betaine;Decyl glucoside;Fragrance;DMDM Hydantoin;Peg-120 methyl glucose dioleate;Tetrasodium EDTA;Sodium sulfate;Polyquaternium-7;Citric Acid;Poloxamer 124;PEG-7 Glyceryl Cocoate;Red 33;BLUE 1 LAKE
Broccoli, aloe and mangoes are entirely made up of chemicals.

"LOL" It was guess when I wrote my post. I don't even know if there's a space between the two words or not so I just winged it!chunkyfrog wrote:What is the plural of dust bunny?

Re: Vinegar and Water
When I last looked at my ResMed manual, they mentioned cleaning only the humidifier tank with 1 part vinegar to 10 parts water to remove mineral deposits:
"Clean white powder deposits in the water tub by using a solution of one part household vinegar to 10
parts water."
Otherwise, just use warm, soapy water and rinse thoroughly.
And for the DreamWear, they said that you can clean it using the dishwasher with mild dishwashing soap only once a week.

Re: Vinegar and Water
Considering you just use a tiny squeeze of dish-washing soap and then that is subsequently diluted with lots of water, ie. by hundreds of times, then I think we can assume the trace amounts of alcohol are not going to be a problem. It's just common sense and a little applied math. Putting straight alcohol on a mask is probably not a good idea but some folks here say that works fine too (however I don't use straight alcohol on silicone). As for all those other chemicals you object to, try looking at what all the other dish-washing soaps contain, even Ivory or baby shampoo, you may be shocked, (tho I'm not).Cardsfan wrote:The ingredient list on my antibacterial hand soap has alcohol as it's 3rd ingredient. I like my ResMed AirFit F10 FFM - reasonably low leaks for my ASV therapy. I'm currently using a PR S1 AutoSV 960P Advanced. I also keep a ResMed S9 Adapt as backup. I use a heated Hibernite hose. Still rockin' with Win 7 by using GWX to stop Win 10.
