Sleepyhead vs Resscan

Post by idamtnboy » Wed Oct 28, 2015 10:25 pm

It's been a couple of years since I've spent very much time here so I'm wondering what are some of the latest improvements in SH, and how does it compare to Resscan now? In the past I think the aspects of SH that made it a favorite were price and ease of use. I believe it lagged some behind Resscan in the completeness of the graphs, or something of that nature. I don't remember, but I do know there was something about it that for me made Resscan preferable.

So how do the two compare today?

I haven't downloaded and looked at my data at all for a couple of years other than a daily morning look at the S9 LCD screen info. Everything is staying pretty d*** level so why spend time for little more or no better info? Leaks vary from zero to about 9.6 and AHI is almost always less than 1. It's been 5 years since I started CPAP so I'll be looking to get a new machine before long, and use my S9 for a nap time CPAP. So it's probably time to review my detailed data for a few weeks again.

Good question. I saw a print out labelled ResScan Air. Is that different software?

Why are you taking naps? Habit? Not sleeping enough hours at night?

What little I saw this evening I think Resscan Air is connected to the wireless side of the AS10 and so probably is restricted to DME use.

Naps! I get sleepy in the afternoon, probably a combination of hours of sleep at night plus habit. But most of all, they just plain feel damn good! Helps me to keep going until midnight!

I find them roughly equivalent in terms of information provided. ResScan has become less clunky over the last 5 years, with the latest version being 5.4 something. I maintain ResScan to provide reports for my sleep doctor, but I find that Sleepyhead 9.8 is my "go to" for personal use. It still has a couple of glitches, but overall, I think it's more user friendly than ResScan.

I haven't used MyAir (ResScan Air?) intended for patient use, but from the reports I've seen, I think it offers little more than the LCD screen.

I'm still using both Resscan & SH after 3 1/2 years on the hose.

Resscan runs much better in the latest version.... it runs quite nicely on my Windows 7 machine.

I too keep Resscan around mainly to verify things before my semi annual sleep doc visit

Don't know about the old version, but the tech and the PA really liked my Sleepyhead graphs.

Sleepyhead for you... Rescan for lazy sleep doctors who can't be bothered with learning new and better stuff.

I like my ResMed AirFit F10 FFM - reasonably low leaks for my ASV therapy. I'm currently using a PR S1 AutoSV 960P Advanced. I also keep a ResMed S9 Adapt as backup. I use a heated Hibernite hose. Still rockin' with Win 7 by using GWX to stop Win 10.

Has anyone heard any updates or work on Sleepyhead from JediMark?

it's been more than a year since the last update to the software. As best I can tell, its been more than 6 months since there were any responses to inquiries posted over at Source Forge website.

The current ResScan release in version 5.5. I installed it on Windows 10 without any problems
