mask noise with Respironics DreamWear

Post by realjohn74 » Sat Oct 24, 2015 9:44 am

I am trying a new DreamWear under the nose nasal mask. My wife says that there is a loud "bubbling" noise and "swishing" sound after I go to sleep. I am not aware of any noise, and sleep well. Low AHI numbers (1-3). I find the DreamWear to be comfortable. Any other users have this issue?

Sounds like you are getting water in the hose, we call it rainout. Make sure your machine is placed below your bed level or route your hose up over your head on the headboard of the bed. Water can't run uphill, I keep my machine level with my bed but run my hose UP to my headboard and then down to my mask.
Cheers and welcome to the forum

My CPAP machine is on the floor below my bed. The hose is running above my head. The DreamWear mask hose fitting is on top of my head. There is no indication of condensation in the hose ( although I do not have a heated hole). Hove not had this problem with other masks or nose pillows.

Swishing could be the mask's odd air vent either on the mask or the hose connection making noise on your pillow. The bubbling, not sure...

I found the mask noisy, but not gurgling: viewtopic/t108490/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=1 ... 7#p1034017

So far, with its good points and bad points, it's my second choice of all masks and pillows.

I have no idea what the "bubbling" might be but the "swishing" could be the vented air bouncing off something. I don't really notice any noise with it unless the vented air hits something.
My husband doesn't notice any extra noise.

I have been trialing the DreamWear for not quite 2 weeks now.
