Picked up new 960 today
I picked up my new BiPap auto 960 today. I am wondering on the settings cause RT is not into Respironics that much. My old settings were: Max IPAP 30.0,Min IPAP 15.0 and EPAP 14.0. Now I know the new machine will not go above 25. It is set at Max Pressure 25.0, EPAP min 15.0, EPAP Max 15.0 and PS max 10. Can anyone tell me if these settings look corect?
Thank You
Wes

What is the PS minimum?wacyone wrote:PS max 10
Why are you on ASV? Centrals? or some other reason?

Re: Picked up new 960 today
With your need for higher EPAP to start with that of course limits the range that the machine can go to.
I don't know why they limited maximum EPAP though unless they wanted to only have IPAP vary with the 0 to 10 PS for the centrals.
So I think that the settings are probably real close to what you used to use.
I would suggest just using them and see what happens. If EPAP having its hands tied presents a problem it will likely show up with high OA numbers and if that happens re-evaluation might be necessary.

Re: Picked up new 960 today
Side note....with PS minimum of 0 then you aren't going to see or feel anything but the 15 EPAP when you first start the machine. You won't get a different inhale vs exhale pressure thing. I don't know if that will be an issue for you or not since on your other machine you were essentially starting out with 14 exhale and 15 inhale. It's just 1 cm difference. If it feels too weird you could probably safely add in 1 cm PS...set the min PS to 1 cm... and get along just fine.

Re: Picked up new 960 today
When reading my results from last night it said "Humidifier Status: Disconnected" Why should this be? Otherwise everything going fine. I like the fact of way less noise from the machine.

Your humidifier isn't disconnected...that's a known bug in the software. Ignore it.

Thank you. Well I was wondering since the water was going down. Any suggestions on what I should set the heated hose to?

Re: Picked up new 960 today
Heated hose temp and humidity settings are entirely up to your personal preferences.
With the heated hose on the 960 the humidity selections are in the clinical menu setup area
Setting of 1 is for 70%
Setting of 2 is for 80%
Setting of 3 is for 90%
The machine has sensors and will vary the water consumption with whatever the ambient room humidity might be. The higher your ambient humidity in the house...the less water you may use.
When it rains outside and I have the windows open...I use very little water despite having the humidifier set for maximum humidity delivery.
With the heated hose attached the temperature is all that is controlled with the knob on the machine when not in clinical setup menu mode.
Settings of 1 through 6 and a setting of 1 adds 4 degrees to the ambient room temperature and the maximum of 6 adds 16 degrees to ambient room temp.

My nose likes a LOT of moisture so I always set my humidifier to maximum but I will vary the temperature depending on the season and the bedroom temp. This way I get constant humidity delivery no matter what temperature I might be using. I use cooler temp settings in the summer and warmer settings in the winter but my humidity delivered to my nose never changes. That keeps the nasal mucosa happy.
When the nasal mucosa are unhappy then I am usually miserable with typical allergy like symptoms and I see no sense in being miserable.
Humidity needs vary widely...some people are like me and would snort water if they could and some people have nasal mucosa that prefer minimal to none added moisture. There is no right or wrong...there's what works for the individual.....so this is something you have to sort of figure out yourself.
I did do a survey of sorts a while back and most people leaned towards the higher end of humidity than the lower end.
Typical symptoms of unhappy nasal mucosa....the usual allergy like responses because that's how the mucosa respond to either too much or too little humidity....nasal congestion, drainage, itchiness, sneezing, sinus area pressure, etc.
If you have none of these symptoms...I wouldn't go changing the humidity setting whatever it might be (default is for 2 on the 60 series machines with heated hose and remember this setting is only available in the clinical menu if the heated hose is attached).
Hose temp...use whatever feels good. In the winter my bedroom is pretty cold (50 to 55 degrees) and that's too cold on my nose and also makes for massive condensation in mask or hose if I don't use higher temps. So I will use 80 to 86 degrees in the winter....feels good and I don't get rain out in hose or mask.
All depends on what you like and how warm you keep your house. If you are like my mom and keep it 78 degrees in the winter....you won't need or want to add much warmth to that heated hose.

Now Encore Basic looses data after downloading it and closing Encore Basic. Why?

Re: Picked up new 960 today
Exactly which/what data is Basic losing?
It only shows the most recent waveform graph but the other stuff should be in there.
If it is the wave form data you are wanting from the past...you will have to use Encore Pro or make a copy of each day's waveform and manually save the report.

That's tedious. Why botherPugsy wrote:you will have to use Encore Pro or make a copy of each day's waveform and manually save the report.
I know you're anxious to get results, but just use Sleepyhead v0.9.8.1wacyone wrote:Now Encore Basic looses data after downloading it and closing Encore Basic. Why?
It works fine with my PR 960. Depending on your computer's graphics card you may have to use the open or broken GL version (all in one install package), however in most cases SH will detect that automatically at the beginning of the install. I used Encore for over a year on my 960 and was soooo happy Mark finally got SH working on the ASV machines. BONUS: Backups are a breeze now! EXTRA BONUS: Cool graphics and it's fast. The only reason I can see running Encore products is that your sleep doctor may want to view your reports in a format that is convenient for him/her.

I like my ResMed AirFit F10 FFM - reasonably low leaks for my ASV therapy. I'm currently using a PR S1 AutoSV 960P Advanced. I also keep a ResMed S9 Adapt as backup. I use a heated Hibernite hose. Still rockin' with Win 7 by using GWX to stop Win 10.
Re: Picked up new 960 today
I have installed Sleepy Head also.Yes it is a great program and am using both for myself and my wife. We both have system one machines. I have used Encore Viewer and Encore Basic for over 6 years so like they say it is hard to break old tricks. With the Encore Basic I cand download the info from the SD card and review at that point. But I close Encore Basic and when I come back to open it the history is gone. I noticed I am getting a folder that says "All Users" now.
