FFM to Nasal Pillow WOW what a difference

Post by R1200ST » Thu Oct 22, 2015 8:45 am

Yesterday I had my one month appointment with the VA sleep clinic. I told Ronnie my woes with the FFM and the itchy nose she fitted me with a Nuance Pro and also a airfit P10. Last night I slept with the P10 and wow what a difference I had. 9 hours of use, and AHI of 0. My pressures never went above 11 and virtually no leaks. The only issue that I had was the pain in the area under my nose where that little bone is located. This area is hypersensitive ever since I had a septorynoplasty (sp?) and this was the suture point. I might have had the mask on too tight so I will loosen it up a bit for tonight. Ronnie mentioned I might need some type of cushion there like the Gecko so I will look into that (any suggestions?).

It was my first night of almost 9 hours of use. With the FFM the most I had was 4 hours. I am really excited about the results.

Hopefully I can work out the pain issue.

If you can't loosen up the P10 enough and the discomfort doesn't go away you might look at a barrel cozy to help sort of pad that tender area.

I had similar discomfort for about 3 nights with the P10 and I had been a nasal pillow user for years.
It's the headgear being a little too snug but the headgear will stretch out a bit.

I haven't needed the barrel cozy for the P10 but I have used one when I was using the Swift FX and the material used feels really nice next to the skin and it might be just enough padding to help with the soreness.

Thank you. Just ordered. I think that will do the trick

Sometimes, wrapping the headgear tightly around a folded bath towel will stretch it a little.
If it stretches too much, washing springs it back.

Loosened the straps and pain is minimal. Little bit of leak issue when moving around but nothing too serious. When the pad arrives I will adjust for a better fit but for now all is well.

When you have time you might change your mask in your profile.
I predict you won't be going back to the full face mask you are showing today.
