How do I get the help I need?
How do I get the help I need?
I don't understand why I am being treated this way. Nobody will help me and now wants to shut me out. I'm desperate and am very serious about getting better.

I have one question though. Is there any other treatment for OSA I should get instead of CPAP since I don't tolerate it well? It's just a fact. I can't get used to the mask, at least the one I have.Julie wrote:See a doctor.

Re: How do I get the help I need?
I've been trying to read all I can and this afternoon came upon this thread. Well, I was curious and found other threads by this person. It's like a soap opera. I don't understand. It would be terribly sad if this person was indeed having many problems and was met with some of the posts I have read here. On the other hand, if this person is a "troll" or a spam person or just someone you are tired of responding to, why bother to respond again? The same people seem to have posted so many times saying the exact same thing. In the outside world, I steer clear of people who I am uncomfortable around. I stay away and ignore them. This doesn't make much sense to me.

I promise you that I am genuine and am lost and in need of help. I promise you that I need help.
The problem is that even if I do get the official mask, I cannot tolerate CPAP well. I couldn't in the sleep tests, and I haven't tolerated the one that I have right now. It is a big problem. No matter how much I use it while watching tv, I cannot get used to it.
I am in a situation where I don't get a lot of help from my doctor/sleep lab, etc.. I am calling every week now and trying to see what is going on. But they have been giving me the run around everytime and it's always a different story. Last time the health lab accused me of not responding. Total BS. Totally. It's a different story everytime. And Apria hasn't been great either.
But like I said, I don't know that even getting the CPAP would cure my problem because I can't tolerate the sleep mask. It's like I'm suffocating. I've used it many times now and it's very rare that I'm able to be able to sleep with it. Even when I do, I wake up after 1 to 3 hours. I cannot sleep with it.
So is there anything else that might work? This is CRUCIAL. Dental device? Surgery? Combination?

It's my understanding that the people here aren't doctors and just try to help one another by offering their experiences. I haven't read here or another board that surgery is a cure. Maybe for some people but it doesn't seem like many. Same with a dental device for that matter. Anyway, you have to decide what's right for you. No one here can tell you what to do. I don't think anyone knows you. I wish you good luck.

He has made 650 posts in the six months that he has been there. If you want a full picture, click on his name and go read his posts.
He has been told over and over and over again exactly what to do and how to do it, but he is unable or unwilling to follow those steps. He just keeps doing the same things that don't work and continues posting about it looking for some miracle, secret cure that we are all hiding from him. There is nothing more that we can do for him.
He needs help, alright - but it's far beyond what anyone here can provide. He's already been blocked on the other big CPAP forum after trying the same stuff there.

I
With all due respect, that's what I meant. I did read many of his posts. People say the same things to him over and over. I don't understand why.

They were suggestions but I don't know which ones to take and which ones not to take. One suggested to get a new doctor. Everyone has a different suggestion.
It is sad that I was blocked at the other board. Right now is the time I need help the most. Desperate. Don't feel right. Keep on fighting.

But I don't think I can tolerate the mask. So what am I supposed to do if I just can't do it?
I mean I was hoping at least that the doctor could get me a better mask (the official mask I never got) and tell me what settings I should be on. I have no idea.
Will call the office again tomorrow and find out any new research.

Re: How do I get the help I need?
Luckyhere -- we may not be able to help him, but we can try to help other people (that see his posts and don't know the history) to avoid getting sucked in the way we did. Some of the kindest, smartest and most patient people on this forum have gone above and beyond to try to help him - to no avail. And yes, the posts to him have been so repetitive it's borderline sickening, but how else can we save new people from enduring the same hell we've been through? And trust me, it's hell trying to help someone who is unable/unwilling to do even the most basic things to help themselves.Lucyhere wrote:Iyaconsult wrote:He has made 650 posts in the six months that he has been there. So yes, it would be nicer to him to stay out of it, but since we cannot help him, we CAN warn new people not to bother wasting their time and thus helping them from suffering through what we did.
