Airfit P10

Post by mal59 » Thu Oct 15, 2015 9:47 am

Just a quick question. I have read mixed messages regarding cleaning my Airfit P10 nasal pillow mask. I have been cleaning the mask mostly everyday, sometimes every 2 days. Am I cleaning at the right frequency?

Thanks
Mike

Cleaning frequency is up to the individual as to what seems to suit their needs and preferences.
There's not really any right or wrong as to frequency. I don't wash mine as often as you do but that doesn't mean much. I have never washed my nasal pillows often (maybe once every week or two) unless I happen to have a drippy nose for some reason. I just don't see the need and I am lazy.

Rinse my pillows daily, wash and shrink my headset weekly, wash my tank weekly and wash my hose monthly. More about smell than cleanliness to be honest.

I think englandsf does what is closer to what the manufacturer says to clean. I wash my pillow every couple of days. My tank weekly and the headgear weekly. I have yet to clean the cloth material yet. And I clean my house maybe every two weeks. Maybe. But that is just me and how I do it right now. Everyone is different.

Thanks for the quick replies. I appreciate the knowledge and experience from this user base.

I typically drop the mask into a sink with soapy water, rinse and dry (excluding head gear). I didn't think about the main hose, will start cleaning that.

I have had some bouts of what appeared to be allergies (I don't have allergies) and attributed those bouts to not cleaning the mask and tank frequently enough.

Mike

You might look at how often you change the air filter if you are having allergy like symptoms right now.
Seems like the usual fall pollens are a bit high already and maybe a new air filter might be needed (sure wouldn't hurt).

Yeah changing the filter is key for me I have learned that. So I would for sure suggest that. The thought of saying that totally fell out of my head. Good call on that Pugsy!

I'm impressed - I don't clean my house every two weeks

Filters normally last about 60 days, but less this time of year and in Q1 with heavy pollen. My cleaners come every two weeks too!-)

Mike
Many would question the need to clean the hose. Seems to me a giant PITA for little return. I don't think it likely the hose is going to become contaminated with anything. Personally, I change out the hose with a new one once a year or so with no cleanings in between.
Now, the pillows I wash in warm soapy water, rinse, and allow to air dry daily. Headgear - about the same as the hose. Humidifier tank - distilled water only with a washing in warm soapy water, rinse, and air dry every couple of months or so.
