And pillow number 6 is ? Curious minds want to know.
Kudos to you for being persistent in solving your problems. 49er
Right you are 49er,
persistence is the message here.
It became clear that, for me, side-sleeping is vital to obtaining low AHIs.
The barrier was Large Leaks which I now know were caused by mask contact with the mattress.
Finding the right pillow led me through:
- 1) a multi-level, weirdly-shaped "Chiro" pillow that I could never get comfortable with;
2) a Tempur-pedic memory-foam pillow that was too low when on my side;
3) various down-filled pillows that were too soft to support my head;
4) expensive new Dacron-filled pillows that "fought back" all night and gave me a neckache;
5) the CpapTalk famous buckwheat-hull-filled-DIY-project pillow
(I could never find the correct amount or the correct blend of foam vs hulls, and,
the buckwheat filling is too hard for my bald and apparently sensitive head ;
and finally
6) a new king-sized, goose-feather-and-down filled pillow from Macy's Hotel Collection which I specially prepared.
This pillow I had used before but with limited success. It felt good but didn't have enough loft to elevate my head when side-sleeping.
Then I had an insight as a result of using the buckwheat-hull pillow: shake the filling down toward one end,
and keep it there by folding the pillow slip under the pillow.
E' Voila!
The important thing is not the brand, I believe, so much as the filling mix (for comfort),
that I shook it down to gain height, and, that I secured it with a fold underneath.
