ears pop during useage
ears pop during useage
I am new user of the cpap machine and my ears are constantly popping during usage. Does anyone else have this problem?
Re: ears pop during useage
I am new to CPAP therapy too. From my experience, it only happens when I swallow. To prevent this from happening,I usually breathe out any remaining air from my lung, then swallow - that way I'm not swallowing the air. YMMV, especially since I'm on relatively low pressure right now, APAP 5-9 cmH2O. If it is happening on its own, then it might be due to the pressure being especially high, but that's only a guess. As far as how to get rid of pressure in the ears, I usually inhale very deeply and yawn. If you know how to move your ears, that can relieve the popping too.
If the popping in the ears is VERY painful, or you have sinus problems, you probably should talk to your doctor about this. Over-the-counter nasal rinses, Neti pot, etc.
I never asked if you use the nasal or full-face masks; since I use only full-face masks, I'm only sharing my experience with using those.
