I wear an F10-for-her, and because it's the x-small, I have the pink (really lavender) headgear. I've been wearing the headgear for a couple of months now, and I've slowly been cinching it up as it stretches out. It started pretty close to the inside ends of the straps, and now I'm at the end and it won't go any tighter. My insurance only pays for new every six months, and I've got another month to go.

Does anybody have any secrets for getting it tighter? Anybody know of a smaller headgear that will work with the F10? It's really annoying because the intersection of the back and front straps is over my ears and irritates them, too.

(oh, yeah, bring on the zippy-the-pinhead jokes... )

$30 for the headgear alone... can you not afford that?

Sure, I can afford a new one out-of-pocket, but one that actually fit without rubbing on my ears would be better. This one may get me through another month, and I figure I've got that time to figure out if there is something that fits better...

Needle and thread. Doesn't even have to look pretty.
Just thread the needle, tie a knot, etc.
Velcro, buttons, and new elastic, or elastic salvaged from your skinny underwear.

Regarding headgear, sadly, I'm at the opposite end of the spectrum.

I like my ResMed AirFit F10 FFM - reasonably low leaks for my ASV therapy. I'm currently using a PR S1 AutoSV 960P Advanced. I also keep a ResMed S9 Adapt as backup. I use a heated Hibernite hose. Still rockin' with Win 7 by using GWX to stop Win 10.

If your headgear is too big, just take a tuck in it and either stitch it by hand or on your sewing machine.
Started cpap in 2010.. still at it with great results.

Does that really work? One time I had a cotton sweater that was too big, and I washed it in hot water and ended up with the body of the sweater way too short, but the sleeves actually got longer and were down to my knees!

Just sew it by hand... so little involved after all.

I have that issue too. I have had to pull the top strap tabs so they actually fold over on the back. I use some velcro and secure it on the front and on the back so the tabs don't come loose. Just about every mask I have tried over the years has nipped my ears in some way - it is very uncomfortable!

I fixed it! I remembered that I have some velcro-in shoulder pads from an old sweater. (My daughter kept telling me how dorky they looked, so I took them off and threw them in a drawer.) The velcro sticks to the inside of the headgear at the back, and now it's nice a snug with the straps more like they are supposed to be.

After: Image

(...ok, as my daughter will attest, I'm still kind of dorky looking, but no one can see it in the dark! )
