Full-face mask and wrinkles?

Firstly, hello and thank you so much for the hospitality.
Last night was my third night with my ResMed AirSense 10. I look forward to getting healthier and healthier. I am grateful for my cpap machine and I plan to be very fond of it.

When I get up in the mornings, I've noticed that the wrinkles around my mouth are much more pronounced! Is this normal with a good-fitting mask??

It feels as if my mask may be too small. It is the AirSense F10 full-face mask, size small.
I printed ResMed's template for measuring for the proper fit, but my computer won't print in in actual size, prints it too small. Using a tape measure I measured from the mid-chin to the bridge of the nose where my glasses rest at about 3¾".
I plan to call ResMed tomorrow.

My main thing is, are deeper mouth wrinkles just inevitable for a full-face mask wearer?

How tightly are you wearing the mask? You shouldn't need it very tight if it fits properly without major leaks, plus the thin cushion strip (the part touching you) needs to inflate once the mask is on. Do you normally have very thin skin?

No, I do not have thin skin.

It seems like I kind of have to pucker up to feel like the mask is sufficiently covering the mouth when I put it on. If I open my mouth too much, it's like the outer cracks of my mouth try to extend past the mask a tiny bit.
Yet I have to cinch it quite tightly to prevent leaks. I'll get the hang of it.

I will get the sizing all figured out soon, I'm sure.
I was just concerned that prominent wrinkling around the mouth might be inevitable with a mask.

This type mask is designed to "float" on your face and should not be adjusted tightly.

The right size mask is absolutely essential.
Keep pushing until you have one that FITS.
The therapy alone will help your whole body heal.
My skin has improved all over--I know; TMI.

I think your mask is just too small for you, or else the wrong one altogether. And overtightening is turning you into a prune! There are too many masks out there to settle for that!

I think you're right. I watched the video on fitting just now (Thank you, ChicagoGranny, you funny girl.) and it looks like my mask rides too low on my nose. It's almost like the mask itself can't cover enough, and I'm trying to compensate by over tightening.

It is the men's small. I think a women's medium might be better. I shall see if ResMed can steer me in the right direction with the information I have.

I use a men's large and feel like the corners of my mouth are going to stick out the sides of the cushion too. Puckering my mouth also gets everything inside. While it's a good mask, I think it's just too narrow for my liking. I prefer the Quattro FX. It's wider at the mouth, so I can move my mouth around without creating any leaks. I have a men's large in the QFX also. I think the sizing is a little more generous with the QFX than the F10.

I tried the F10 and had wrinkle city every morning.

Eventually gave up on it primarily due to the air leaks.

What you're likely to find is that you'll have to go through several mask before finding the right one for you.

I haven't tried one myself, but some here give this Padacheek mask liner a high rating - http://www.padacheek.com/PACAirFitSeries.html

The pad-a-cheek liners are great for general comfort and leak control, but will probably not help in the crease department. Although, if the creases are caused by an over-tightened mask, the pad-a-cheek liners would allow you to keep the seal while loosening the straps, thus potentially minimizing creases. Otherwise a different mask might in order.

So Jim, how happy are you with your Amara mask? Dang, they ain't cheap.
