Bluetooth vs Encore

Post by Lg » Wed Aug 19, 2015 7:56 am

I like my reports from the PR System 1 via SD card on Encore 2. How does the Bluetooth report differ? Does the System 1 Bluetooth still have a SD card capability?

If this is the machine you are inquiring about, I believe it just came out so few (if any) people here use it.

The specs tab shows that the machine has an SD card.

If this is not the machine you are referencing, you can get a lot of information on our host's site, cpap.com.

Looks like the bluetooth function is for the Sleepmapper app so you can get those reports to your smart phone. The SleepMapper data is basic and not as detailed as Sleepyhead or Encore. The machine linked above under Specs states an SD card is included.

I think there is a Bluetooth module for the PRS1 machines that sells for $30 to $60 depending on where you look. If the built-in module performs the same funciton, I would not find that very compelling as Sleepmapper is a real sleeper software. Not much useful there.

SleepMapper is nothing like your Encore reports. Mainly SleepMapper tells you overall AHI and if you had any big leaks during the night. That's it. Not worth messing with IMHO.
Now if you want to be able to pull the data off the SD card with the SD card still in the machine you might want to look at the wireless data transfer to use on your own computer
See this page and read about FlashPap and SleepMaster

Just to chime in with something mentioned in another recent discussion here, if you use the Flash Pap cards, it has been advised to also download the data to a regular SD card if you have to provide it to a DME or sleep specialist to read the data. I just use a regular SD card, and I learned the hard way not to let the SD card out of my sight if I want to keep my data. The DME lost my SD card from my old machine. There may also be an issue of DME and sleep specialist SD card readers not being able to use the special cards used for wireless data transmission.

I recently went to a new sleep specialist who wanted to keep my SD card for a WEEK because the person who knew how to use the SD-reading software was only in one day a week. NO WAY!! I was going for a pulmonology checkup and not because the dr. was a sleep specialist.

Discussion is about Bluetooth.

FlashPAP and Sleepmaster are both WiFi, and require a special WiFi sdcard, not the same technology.
