What to do with extra nasal pillows and mouth cushions?

Post by Tesseract » Tue Aug 18, 2015 4:22 pm

I got the Amara View mask but I have 7 or 8 small nasal pillows and 2 large mouth cushions for the mirage liberty hybrid mask. Is there a place I can sell these or am I legally required to throw them away even though they are brand new and sealed in original packaging?

You've just advertised them here - see if anyone bites. There's no laws involved.

Post them in the thread titled "The Great Pillow Exchange". You can exchange them, sell them or just give them away there. You might get some traffic from this post, but when board members are looking for mask and pillow/cushion swaps, etc, most of them go to that thread to see what is currently available.

You can also sell them on eBay. I've purchased quite a few accessories on there myself.

Note: Cpap machines and entire masks require a prescription in the USA, so eBay bans those specific items. But mask components and accessories do not require an rx. E.g. Cushions, pillows, headgear, chin straps, hoses, etc. You can actually purchase all of the individual components to a mask and assemble it yourself as a way to bypass the rx requirements.

Tesseract, the only time you can't sell pillows, cushions and the like is if Medicaid purchased them. In that case, donation is your only option because you could lose Medicaid if you sold them. I was unable to sell my brother's masks on Ebay (they took it off), but sold all three to one guy through Craigslist. The remaining cushions and stuff is going on ebay. If you had full masks, you'd have to sell the mask part in a separate listing from the headgear part.

Thanks for the notice. I have Medicare/Medicaid due to disability. I'd probably better just find someone to donate them to.
